Interesting you should mention that. I was once told by a Porsche sales manager that the cows they use for leather are supplied by specially selected farms where the cows roam with no fences with nails/barbed wire etc so they don't get cuts/scars etc. I always thought it was a wind up and told him I didn't believe him, but he was adamant. I still thought its a wind up but may be not!

They rub lotion regularly into their hides to soften the leather too.

Saab used to boast that they used Swedish cattle for their leather due to exactly this - barbed wire is illegal in Sweden so they are unscarred.

I'm not falling for it you two! Its after 12 now so honesty time. Mine was a true story!

You wouldn't believe what does get scrapped. Loads of leather covers for scars etc..

Having now Googled mine and the images that came back - I'm starting to think mine may have been one of my Grandfather's regular 'stories'..... :roll:

He was nearly there. Norway have banned it and it is rarely used in the rest of Scandinavia.

No we don't do the merc. We do use real leather but only on the panels you actually sit on. The sides and rear are plastic. Mine are Alcantara. Not real leather to but I'll watch out for the leather covers being rejected and I can replace my covers once worn.. and I've built up a full set

You still get migy bites big kneck wrinkles. And other blemishes etc.. all have a level of acceptance.

I'll get a few pics withthe roof down when it's dry for you. They come with mood lighting in the headrest aparture.. these aren't fitted in mine though. Also footwell lights...
