new s/c unit now installed... and dyno numbers :-)

Hi ben the kits come from norway regardless of where you purchase, i managed to get mine on a group buy last year which really dropped the cost nicely..... i then waited a year and added VT2 upgrade parts, from now on more power is simply a pulley change and tune.... but i will leave it here now and just enjoy the car for a while.

What really stings is the installation costs and import charges.... Ess recalibrated my obc for the larger injectors and off boost on a long run i see better mpg than the car before the s/c. This mod Really has now downsides....

if you ever want some advice and help just pm me, ive pretty much worked out all the little wrinkles, their isnt many but to get the perfect install you need to invest time to get it really o.e.m perfect.

Ben id be really excited to get another uk z4m s/c woner, please hurry up so ive got someone to talk about mods to :-)

Cheers Beedub!
I spend alot of time in the US and could just "bring it back" with me in bits :D
I also go to Norway occasionally so could look there too but assume the tax will be crazy. I will drop you a line closer to the time as I still have to find a nice Z4MR first. I sold my 3.0 Roadster last year. I need to fight my Porker C4S urges too!

So if it comes from Norway then why did you get stung by customs?? :?

Norway imports have always had import tax, ive been buying goods from norway for 7 years now.

Come out and see my car, i promise all notion of a c4s will dissapear.

I may just have to do that. I'm back in the UK in a couple of weeks (currently in the middle of the Atlantic). Will PM you is I get a chance. Assuming you are in Sutton Coldfield, that is 40 mins down the M42.

hi cj..... thankyou bro, i already posted the pics on my other thread :-) infact i ook the pics from the thread here :-) appreciate you taking the time to read though matey :-)

ok ok ok so today i got my "new Intake" from ess, and i just had to fit this immediatly, i took some nice shots of the further upgrades ive done to the Ess kit... im so pleased the new intake came in as my old one really looked rough, you guys buying one maybe, make sure you get your shop to treat this piece with extra care as you can damage it by simply running you finger nails down it!! and it looks horrific once its scratched up.... anyhow shes FINALLY back to how it should look........

Super strong braided Hose, i replaced the rubber one that ess use as its looks terrible on the top of the engine but also i could see abrasion marks where it has rubbed, so i went for this extra strong hose.... i had to cut this with an angle grinder it was so strong.....On top of everything it also looks great in the engine bay.

Now this is the the s/c braid hose line, this piece wasnt touching the chassis rail but was close so i used some of the braided line protector from my AP BBK install, i then added some heavy duty black tape to further protect the braided line and chassis rail paint in the extemes of use.....

The devil is in the details :-)
first trackday with the VT2 happens in 2.5 weeks, camera lady is back and ready to record so expect some great footage of this thing being used properly.... A massive thankyou for simpson motorsport for being top sports with the damaged bits and together with ESS replacing the s/c and intake.... we all make mistakes and these guys made these niggles painless!! thanks!!

ESS continue to show me why i made the choice i did!!!

thanks for looking guys!!!

I've read with interest the developments of your supercharger upgrade... I'm very tempted to put aside some cash and look at this

Which track day you going too ?

Gotta second Ali's sentiment.

Good work, mate. I'm also one of those people who would rather spend twice as long on a job if it contributes to a better end result - even if it's a job I didn't want to do in the first place. Nice to know I'm not on my own.

If a thing's worth doing, it's worth over-doing.

My motto - borrowed from the late, great Cozy Powell.

thanks Dave.... labour of love and really appreciate the comments.

Beedub your engine bay is a piece of art in motion mate. Good to read the speed with which ess & Simpson sorted your leaking S/C. Goes to show the time you put in documenting your upgrades is worth it, clearly Ess follows your threads on hear & PH. Did you ever get to VMax? :driving:

unfortunatly the leak happened on the way home from collecting the car,..... the vmax was the next day on the saturday so i didnt get to do vmax..... i took another car and ended up leaving early in boredom... i cant lie the vmax event in general i found rather...... boring........... its fun driving on a straight 1 or 2 times but after the 10-11th times i got rather boring...... and the stone chips that i picked up were shocking..... in a way i was happy i didnt take my z4m.

thanks for the comments re the engine bay, i have a photo-shoot within the next 3 weeks @ curborough, i have the whole venue to myself to ill be sure to get some footage during the madness that will happen that day!!

A day of driving..........

so i finally got to have a FULL day driving my vt2-500 roadster..... all i can say is WOW.......

ok temps today topped 30 deg C, so Very very very hot, and im pleased to say the vt2-500 performed faultlessly..... Honestly?? i dont feel the meth/water injection is needed, the power i felt today throughout the day was nothing short of staggering, if im feeling this type of power now, what hell is this thing going to drive like on sub 10 deg C days?? As this car only gets weekend use, its great to see performance is consistant, the intercooler is clearly a very effiecient unit....

Honestly... i dont thing the z4m needs anymore power than the vt1..... The vt2 kit is plain insane, helll im slipping my pilot super sports in first and second in 30 degrees heat!!! Power builts from nice and low now, enough for 6th gear pull difference @ motorway speeds, but the lower gears is nothing short of mind blowing, the rev needle moving so fast its difficult to catch it before it pops the limiter, the s/c is alittle noisey/chattery @ idle with the vt2 small pulley but this is normal with these gear s/c and it sounds very mechanical, once up and running the recirc BOV makes itself known and theirs quite abit of s/c whistle, intake noise is like darth vadar on heat..... this thing is addictive.

Now water temps are not afffected, i flushed mine just to be sure during the upgrade, oil temp is 100% lower than stock, even in these extreme temps, mines sits just under the 100 deg c mark. i took my dad out for a drive this afternoon and he said "this thing is nuts" lol.

now after using a tank of fuel running this thing allday in these hot hot temps, my AP BBK really showed its worth, this kit WILL kill stock brakes in no time, the brake force needed to stop this type of performance constantly will melt the stock pads very quickly.

in every single sense the vt2 kit has excceeded my expectations, super smooth tuning, great off boost MPG, off boost drivibilty better than stock, on boost performance now in supercar league... imo this kit makes the z4m a true keeper, i will simply never get bored of hearing the tyres chirping deep into 2nd gear, you could drift this thing all day long.... finally the z4m REALLY comes alive, i love my little z4m.... i'll pass this onto my son..... best mod ive ever done.....This car now has supercar like performance.

meth/water injection for even lower AITs... go on, ill bite.... ill order this tomorrow and do something really special on the install.......

trackday in 2 weeks!!!! wahoooo!!!! (please excuse iphone 4 spelling)

Wow, this thing is insane!!!!!

Peak recall on boost :-) (note slightly higher reading due to bumping the rev limiter, the car hits a consistant 8psi)

Attention to detail.... that engine is a work of art... (aside from its power!)

Would love to see your car in the flesh.
