New rubber??

I used to have potenza's re050a on the back - theyre done after less than two seasons. But they have insane grip if you warm them properly.
Now will probably buy potenza s001 which are said to grip better when cold and not to wear so suddenly.

Just to buck the trend I have just fitted Kuhmo Ecsta KU 39's on the back .
Better reviews than Falkens and £124 a side fitted at my local garage (155/35/18)

So far they feel fine but as people will say - only time will tell

Before you get the standard 'use the search button' comments :poke: take a look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's, there a good shout.

Or Goodyear Eagle Efficient Grips! Got them on mine, absolutely life saving in the wet... from experience! :)

If you can find Avon ZZ5s in your price range they are very good, but do wear a little quick when used for spirited driving

I have ZZ5's on the rear of mine and they appear to be very good. I've had no issues in this crap weather we've been having and on dry roads they grip extremely well. I'll be changing the fronts to the same from the Bridgestone RF's that are still on there towards the end of summer.

Yeah i agree with you that they are very important. I have never had a high (ish) BHP rear drive car. I have found the Bridgestones to grip fine. I am a bit weary of them in the wet. But i think that's to do with 19" wheels and run flats. It makes every thing seem so hard as if it will slide over water. There is not enough feel i am after a more supple feel so normal tyres. Might even go back to 18" wheels if that dose not work. I think tho my budget is about £160 a corner i cant see me affording much more. And they will be better than the soon to be illegal ones :?
