So guys I am in the market for new tyres I am going to be going middle of the road on price a lot of you have had falkens so they are in the running. But has any one experience of Avons zz3 rubber they look good have good reviews. What I am after is personal exspeiance on a zed?

Thanks in advance I am sure you will help.

Before you get the standard 'use the search button' comments :poke: take a look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's, there a good shout.

What's your budget per corner for the rears & fronts?

I was hoping for below £150. And both falkens and Avons are under that on camskils. I think it's going to be betwine the 2 anything will be better than the rfts!! Btw I need 225 35 19 and 255 30 19 rear or there abouts.

Ran the Avons for over 10 years on my wife's SLK. Gripped well, wore well, stopped well, good price.

If you manage a set of 19's with a decent brand (avon/falken) for under £600 then you aren't doing bad ,
If you can't stretch to a set of Vreds go with your own choice then you can only blame yourself

Fair one Mr Wilks I have Been reading reviews most of the night. Think I will go for the Avons. If I can't afford the vreds. Should be able to buy the tyres for £600 or under then there is fitting and all that on top.

I have never been o excited about tyres. I can wait to drive it without RFTs fitted.

You will be happy for sure , its £600 well spent for many reasons & feel free to show us the new rubber when its on the wheels & on the car

I hear what your saying Jonny but I don't have the same zed budget as you!! I will just have to drive slower than you :(

I am sure your stalking me Lux!! My spelling is not great they are not all down to the I pad!!!

Any way lux an sensible input???

If you can find Avon ZZ5s in your price range they are very good, but do wear a little quick when used for spirited driving

Thanks guys maybe I should just spend a bit more. Is it really that noticeable quality between premium and a slightly cheaper brand?

Vreds I like the look of and they are not that much more. And the guy at the place I use was raving about them on his 330 maybe they are the ones for me.

Very cheap aren't worth bothering with. Mid range can end up as expensive as the top of the line tyres as they can wear quicker meaning replacements come sooner. A lot is car dependent obviously.
On two little hatchbacks we had cheaper Toyo on one and Michelin on the other. Mile for mile the Michelin are cheaper as the Toyo wear so much quicker. Factor this in but above all get a good few recommendations Z4 specific and go with that. And it seems that Vredenstein have many fans which look like about £700 all in

A little off topic but I run Michelin Agilis (oem) on my van as I got 22k out of the fronts! Expensive but well worth it. Also again off topic, when working at Goodyear Oem had to be within the manufacturers set tolerances so were superb. Just outside of tolerance but within another went to retail (kwikFit etc). Outside that they were scrap. So your best tyres are always the ones fitted by the factory from new!

i've been using vredestein's on my car for 5 years now. they're great value tyres.

my Z4 had them on the rear when i bought it last march, and i've done 11,000 miles and they still aren't worn out. that's not bad especially as i had a bit of tail happy fun over the winter.

Don't agree top of the range wear quicker - my Michelin PS3's have worn really well, rears hv just needed replacing @ 16k but had a very hard life, fronts still have +5mm - great tyres wet & dry

If you know someone with a Costco card, now is about the time they tend to have their 20% off & you'll get them for your budget.

I thought the comment was that mid-range were a false economy because they wear quicker than the top-of-the-range - not the other way round

I'm using Pilot SuperSports on my Z4MC, and am still on my first set of fronts at about 30k miles. Rears lasted 20k miles. Mostly motorway miles, but also about 50 laps of the 'Ring a year and 5-10 days out in Wales.

I used to use Costco for tyres, but not any more - as even with the discount (only if you need 4 at the same time) they're still 10-20% more expensive than buying them from Camskill and getting them fitted locally though :headbang:
