Seems to have been raining and blowing for days now. I'd had new tyres fitted and wanted to get out for a run - I saw there might be a break on Friday so sent out a text but Dave and Mike were indisposed and Craig was at work.
No problem, Steph and I were looking forward to a day out and after all the heavy rain I thought the roads might be fairly clean - no chance . . .

Still able to enjoy the roads though and Steph and I headed out to the Northumberland coast on some of our favourite back roads and lanes

We'd decided to fit the new Eagles on the black winter tyre rims - they look particularly good when the Zed is filthy, which happened within a few miles! (The ///M size winter tyres had hit and rubbed the inner wheel arches when we hit depressions and braked hard on uneven roads so we went for 3.0si sizes - shame as I thought the ///M higher side wall looked much better).

Called at Craster as it's such a lovely little harbour with a very nice approach road

And some fabulous views of Dunstanburgh Castle

South of Craster we came across a mobile microfibre unit . . . took them an age to pass

It's an enjoyable drive along this road which follows the coastline but only offers a few views of the sea . . .

makes the views all the more enjoyable when they do open up.

There's some old railway architecture on this route

It's a fabulous road from Alnmouth to Warkworth, lots of medium speed twisties and one corkscrew - the new tyres were very quiet and instilled confidence despite the greasy conditions.

It's always an impressive sight seeing Warkworth at the end of this road

Rivers were very high due to the perpetual rain . . .

Steph wanted to do a bit of Christmas shopping in a shop she particularly likes in Warkworth and we had a cuppa and a hot chocolate before heading home early afternoon to avoid the forecasted heavy winds.
Really pleased with the GoodYear Eagles as usual; need a few more miles yet and the conditions meant we couldn't push them too much in any case but the ride was impressive and they were noticeably quiet. £433 fitted and balanced via Black Circles.
