New rubber for z4m

Time for some new rubber, but the million dollar question is what to go for?

I would settled for Michelin PS4S but they don’t do 18’s and this seems to effect sport contact 6 too.

What are people turning to for high performance tyres on 18” rims?

Ps I know this as been asked before but it seems the market place is changing all the time.
 
I ended up going for the Michelin PS4 as like you said, the PS4S' are not available in 18".

Changing to those tyres and a wheel alignment completely transformed the way the car drove. I would highly recommend them.
 
While you can still get them or until a MPS4S is available that fits. I am sticking with the MPSS. Has it's downsides as a every day tyre. But for those times when your driving your ///M properly, it is still the one to have. IMHO.
 
Michelin Pilot Sport 4 for 18”
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S for 19”.

Blackcircles currently have 15% off Michelin’s at the moment.

Did you have to change the size slightly on the profile?

No I fit the standard tyre size.

225/45r18 front
255/40r18 rear
 
Goodyear F1 Supersport are rated as highly as the Michelin 4S...and are available in standard Z4M 18" sizes.

I second this, I got a set of F1 Supersports fitted a few weeks back on the basis they were trading blows with MPS4S. So far they've been excellent, a significant step up from the MPSS I had on previously.

Could be worth a change next set perhaps. :) Forget the tyre tests and the blurb for a moment. In what areas do you feel they are better?

I'd say all areas:
Cornering - Leaning into bends the car just feels more planted, it will grip for longer where the MPSS would have began to wash out.
Braking - The car brakes harder before ABS starts to kick in.
Wet Grip - The traction in the wet was a significant step up. Where before the car would struggle for traction and TC would kick in the Goodyears just grip without issue.

Obviously just having new tyres helps with all of the above but I do think there is a generational difference in tyre technology at play here. I had 19" wheels on my car previously with MPS4S tyres on before changing to 18" with MPSS and the Goodyears are definately on par with the MPS4S.

I actually got the Goodyears cheaper than I could find MPS4 for. So considering they're competing with the MPS4S it was a no brainer for me.
