New Roof Most Likely?

Hi all,

Havent been on in a while but I still have the same problem with my leaky roof... It did go away and after sealing a couple of holes the problem seemed to have been resolved.. But for last few weeks water has got into the boot again in only the left hand side compartment and then some water in the battery compartment too.

Gave it to BMW specialist yesterday - they had a look and they have now confirmed the leak is coming from the middle of the roof on the boot right at the back - apparently it just pours in. However they cant see how any where the problem is.

Therefore today they are taking the roof off which apparently is a crap job - for £300.00 just to get it off and they said the only thing they can think of, is if the roof has a hole in it?

Has this happened to anyone before? Theyve said if it is a hole, it will be about 6 hours labour at £70/hr to put a new roof on basically as you cant just patch up the roof?

Does this seem right? My partner has used them before so trusts what theyve said for his car but I just wanted to ask you lot if youve had this problem before and if it sounds legit...

I have asked them to send me some pictures and to update me when theyve got the roof off as I want to check they are being honest with me and also I will be intrigued to see if it does infact have a hole and how you can get a hole there??

So yeah the whole thing will cost me around £800ish - but I would rather pay that money to get her sorted and to keep her than just to sell her on...

Any replies appreciated :)

Hi

At that price I would want a new roof! I have seen a couple of companies charge between £1200 for new outer roof including fitting and approx £680 for inner roof lining + install :o . I am sure someone else will be along to help shortly.

Now been quoted £1600 for new roof as it has a hole in it.

Can't afford that so looking for people selling their own or off eBay in good condition.

If I can't find one for £500ish will have to sell the car

:headbang:

Hi Em im sure there was a thread on here a while back about someone who had there roof patched up by someone in the
camberly/lightwater area ?

Hi

Just a suggestion, buy a hard top for now, when you sell it you will get the same or close to it back. Theres a couple floating=g around between £650 and £800. I know its not ideal, but better to do that then sell  up
