New Rims - Apex Arc 8 with AP Brakes

what tyre size did you go with DONDP

Front is 235 40 18 and rear is 265 35 18. Works quite well but a 40 profile on the back would be better if they did one.

What size you running in the Nankangs Beedub?

exactly the same as you, i tried a 40 section rear didn't even need to drive it to tell you it will rub with the low offset rear we both have.

you choose the exact correct size, don't forget the aspect ration of a 265 in 35 section is still quite a thick tyre.

They do look perfect! I always thought 18's look small, but actually suit it perfectly. Plus a lot less on tyre prices, and will handle better. I still like having two sets of wheels though :D

Looks great DONDP!

Is that the 'Anthracite' colour?
How much drop have you got on your suspension, as I am currently looking at getting new suspension & wheels and yours looks just about spot on for me and I have been mulling over the Arc 8's for quite a while now.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, so apologies in advance, but would someone be able to advise what offset I would need to fit these to a non-M coupe?

Just thought I'd let you lot looking for these know that I just got a fairly decent (well, less than ca wanted anyway) price on a set from a forum sponsor of m3cutters called indigo-gt based in wales. Anthracite 18x8.5"and9.5" for 1195 delivered. Going to be a long 10 days...

18"s really suit the Coupe, the extra rubber just makes it look more purposeful
DONDP, if you get the Nankang NS2R make sure you get the softer 120 compound. They're incredibly sticky once they've got a bit of heat in them. Mine are holding up really well too - I've done half a dozen track days on them now and they still have plenty of life in them.

Agreed, however my main reason is that I found the handling balance to be far better with the stock 18"s I ran recently. Federal RSR in uprated 235/40 - 265/35 size. turned out to be night and day difference to PSS on 19x 225/40 - 255/35. The car just feels a lot happier on 18s I think, not to mention the ride which is considerably improved.

Agreed - I have a couple of sets of 18" track wheels, one with soft compound NS-2Rs and the other with F1 Asymmetric 2s for wet days. Either are far better than my CSL road wheels fitted with PSS, both in terms of ride comfort and also handling. It's almost impossible to unstick the NS-2Rs (except the rears under power) and the car tolerates broken tarmac far better with taller side wall tyres.

Had mine put on today, well chuffed. No clearance issues on my large brembos at the front so no spacer required :) (OEM 18's needed as did my CS's), offsets look great, very pleased.
Very light as well which I knew, but the difference to the OEM 18s is shocking. I don't think they could make a heavier wheel if they tried with the Z4M wheel, rubbish.
Being anal about these things I had the scales out...
Front oem 18's with Federal RSR 235/40 = 24.15kg
Front Cs 19" with Michelin PSS 225/40= 19.8 kg
Rear oem 18's with Federal RSR 265/35 = 26.3kg
Rear Csl 19" with Michelin PSS 255/35 = 20.7kg
Front Apex ARC-8s 18x8.5 with Federal RSR 235/40 = 19.8kg
Rear Apex ARC-8s 18x9.5 with Federal RSR 265/35 = 20.6kg

Apex rims 6.95kg (f) - 8.5kg (r)
Oem 18s 12.5kg (f) - 13.15kg (r)

the ns-2r are now the control tyre for 2 more proper race championships.... sadly i think they are about to go north in price due to this, they are getting noticed now. :-( they are also now being shipped with a warning about cold/ wet weather near death possibilities. lol....

I'm assuming you're ignoring the front bumper beedub, lol. One day I'll sort it out
Cheers, more importantly very happy with how it feels with these on. Going back to combe on friday (have been there a couple of times this month in similar weather already :) ) and will compare some times.

yeah i saw it but its only a bumper and a re-paint is minor imo... the car as a whole looks so nice!

I'm more inclined to put the money towards new suspension. Where I live, scraping the fangs is all too common possibility. I can imagine having it painted and immediately scraping it then probably throwing myself off the nearest bridge!
I'll paint it if/when I ever sell it, doesn't really bother me.

Anyway, back on topic. Great wheels!

Looks great Tom

Mine is still wearing these as I didn't have time to swap wheels after my last track day. I drove it in the rain the other day when it hadn't rained for a while and the rears we're spinning up in third gear with only fairly modest throttle inputs! For sure the rain would have liberated oil from the road surface that been accumulating for a few weeks, there was standing water and the tyres were cold, but nonetheless it was a different experience from a mildly damp track where they were as good as tyres with full tread.
