New rims advice

Hey guys, looking to treat my zed to some new alloys this Christmas as the old ones have seen their best days and one of them appears to have a buckle, which might be causing the wobble I start getting above 50mph.

I'm a complete noob however, and I'm guessing it's not as simple as buying the right bolt pattern and diameter. Would something like these be suitable and if not, what would?

Thanks!

the important measurements you need are bolt pattern, diameter, widths and offsets.

those wheels have the right bolt pattern, diameter and widths are ok, but the offset is wrong. standard z4 wheels have an offset of ET47 and ET50, so dropping to an ET20-22 will mean the wheels stick 27-28mm further out. play around with willtheyfit to get an idea with what works.

To be fair, the offset is not wrong, it’s just not standard. Many people try to get a bit more “poke” by using spacers or getting a wheel with a reduced offset. ET20/22 is quite aggressive and may cause rubbing issues at the front, particularly on lowered suspension.

They do look like nice wheels, if the seller is genuine. I think this style is known as “tiger claws”, but stand to be corrected.

id be very surprised if it wouldn't cause rubbing at the rear as well! checked the stats, swapping from an 8.5" ET50 to a 9.5" ET22 on the rear will stick out 40.7mm! 10-15mm extra poke is probably ok, 20mm at a push, but 40mm is extreme.

for the OP, anything off an E46 3 series or a E85 Z4 will fit. you can also go for most things off an E9x, that'll have a little poke compared to standard. Avoid wheels off a 5 series, they have really low offsets, and i think the centre bore may be different too actually, so you'd need spigot rings.

Too right, I hadn’t clocked these were 9.5s

I run 8.5x18" ET35 front and 9.5x18" ET35 rear and I wouldn't really go any more aggressive than that. I've got a tiny bit of poke past the arches, like a couple of mm - I love the aggressive fitment and have no rubbing, but that's about the limit for those widths for reference :)

As others have said I think the offsests on those wheels would result in some serious rubbing!

I think E87 1 Series wheels also have very similar sizes and offsets to E85/6s, but I fitted a set of E89 wheels to my previous Coupe and I didn't have any rubbing with them although they sat much further out in the wheelarches. They were 8Jx18 ET29 front and 8.5Jx8 ET40 on the rear.
