New Rear Lights

Been putting my new lights in and very happy with the results. They are European and I simply swapped the reverse and fog bulb around and all is OK. I am moving to Germany next year and will need to swap the bulbs back, problem being the wiring is UK so the fog light will be on the wrong side. Does anyone know how easy to rewire it would be or is it cheaper and easier to go to BMW or an Indy?

Only cost £85 for rears, 3rd brake light and clear side indicators (yet to be fitted). I know, need a new numberplate but will get a new one in Germany.

They look pretty cool, especially the clear 3rd brake light.

Also 5 mins with some metal polish on those exhaust tips will brighten the back of your car no end

I know I must get some polish on those pipes; the whole car could really do with a clean. Even though it is garaged it gets very dusty.

Has anyone had any thoughts about rewiring the rear lights to reverse the Fog and Reverse?

i have the same lights and never re-wired :o

i think i may have switched the bulb holder/colour of the bulbs, and they seemed to work ok. will have to check.

ben g,

I too have just swapped the bulbs (seems to work well) but as am moving to Germany will need to rewire (unless someone has another solution).

Certainly happy with the new look, it "freshens it up" in my opinion.

The clear lights are fairly uncommon and a bit like marmite. Looks good on your car.

Where did you manage to get the set for £85?

Yeah, I think they are probably be better on certain colours. I got them from eBay.de. I actually bought front LHD Xenons but the seller accidentally sent me the rears. I knew I needed them so said I would be happy to keep for the right price. £100 quid including postage for three rear lights and clear side repeaters. Happy days! The front only cost £160 so all in all I was lucky. The seller was also very friendly and quick to communicate and although I can speak German reasonably well he spoke good English too.

Quick update. Managed to swap the reversing and rear fog lights around. Not too complicated in the end. I simply took out the reverse light wire on the left hand side (pin 2) and as it originally come from the right it had enough wire to reach and plug it into the right hand connector (pin 5). Unfortunately the right hand wire (pin 5) was not long enough to reach the left hand side so I had to remove the pin from the wire (not easy to do and I had to drill the existing wire out as BMW couldn't find the exact part), extend the wire with some brought from Halfords (and connected together using a crimp connector) and attach the pin to the free end. End result is it is a 2 minute job to swap them around now so good for here and Europe. I am happy to write a better how to if people want (rushed this a bot and not the clearest). All in about £5.
