New rain sensor caused auto headlights to stay on

Took our car in to Halliwell Jones Chester for a new rain sensor as it wasn't working.
Anyway after 30mins of fitting and 3 hours of syncing with car the auto headlights now stay on no matter what the light conditions.
I took it back and the dealer printed some BS sheet off about the sensors being very sensitive and certain light conditions cause the lights to come on .
I am going have to take it back as they were working perfectly prior to the update.
Anyone else had an issue with their auto lights?

There are (on the E85 anyway) different levels of sensitivity for the lights, so get them to use one of the other settings

Seem to recall you can adjust the sensitivity of the auto on sensor, at least in my E91 you could. When at max sensitivity they were on even with slightest cloud cover. You have probably checked that but thought worth flagging anyway.

Sensitivity can't be altered by the user, but its a possibility through programming (dealer). My lights come on not only in low light conditions but sometimes on days where its just overcast. Presumably they don't just detect light intensity but also frequency as they come on also when conditions are such that glare from the road or objects can occur thereby improving the visibility of your car to others.

Take it back to the dealer, they shouldn't be on all the time, but they're right about certain light conditions.

Certainly will take it back.
They are on all the time. From clear blue skies to slightly overcast days.

Hmmm my lights are always on, assumed it was the daytime running lights?

The daytime running lights should be on, but the binnacle only lights up when the headlights are on. Is the binnacle lit up?
