Hi all,

Looking to buy a 3L roadster very soon.
My questions are:
Is the M sport suspension a hard ride? ( even if you ditch run flats )
Are the non- xenon lights really that poor?
What are your must-have factory fitted options, in order of preference?
Sorry to cover old ground but I keep finding cars that have some but not all the options, so need your views
to help me decide.
Budget about 8K for 3l manual roadster.
Many thanks in advance

I have the M sport suspension with normal tyres & it still feels pretty firm (but it is a sports car)
I have the halogen lights with night breaker bulbs & they are ok, not great but ok.
The heated sports seats were a must have for me, the nav etc I can live without.
It also had to be the si model for me-i love it :driving:
Regards

I have the 3.0i model with M suspension and non run flats on 19 wheels firm ride but as smartbear says it is a sports car. With your budget si is the one to go for as more power and upgraded lights/ bumpers etc.
Sport seats if can get them. Heated of course. OEM wind deflector
Other stuff you probably live with out. Can't think of any more but someone will probably come up with some I've forgotten

Many thanks for your thoughts.
Any views on this car?

:D

Looks like a good value car to me, high'ish miles but not a problem if it's been looked after well-I've read of the 3litre cars running to over 300k with no issues, they're tough!
Regards

Without runflats it is fine. Comparable with other sports cars of the era.

Are the non- xenon lights really that poor?

Yes, but angling them up a little (a 1 minute job) and replacing the bulbs with brighter ones makes them fine for occasional nighttime use. If you intend on doing a lot of midnight country lane hoons then even the xenons aren't great because the car is so low.

What are your must-have factory fitted options, in order of preference?

"Must have" but in order of preference? :P

Ok then...

Sport seats
Heated seats
Wind deflector
Aux-in
Stubby aerial
Cupholders

And non-factory extras:

Tyre repair kit (if you ditch the runflats)
Short shift gearknob (search for "ZHP")
Get a half cover to keep the soft top in good condition

With an 8k budget it's worth considering one of the facelift "si" models (2,5si or 3.0si).

Thats a good buy, si sport is top spec and has most of the must haves as standard  I was also worried about the ride on sport suspension but its absolutely fine on non run flats

That car looks ok - slightly high miles for my liking though. Definitely go for a 3.0si with the 261hp N52 engine. I wanted a low mileage one so compromised and bought a 3.0si SE spec car on 35k miles. No M Sports seats and no heated seats in mine. I do miss the seats (had them in my previous 2.0 Zed) but not the hard ride - much prefer the ride in the SE. I do have the OEM wind deflector and Aux in. If you are ok with a high miler and a hard ride then something like the one in the add will tick all of the boxes.
Good luck.

I note your comments on the high-ish mileage, this car was also on my radar:

Very low miles, with one owner!

Thoughts welcomed!

This car is the pre face-lift model. Looks good too - one owner, FSH and very low miles. Heated seats - but they won't be M sports seats. Its about 30 bhp less then the face-lift 3.0si. It depends whether you want the newer face-lift Zed and the extra bhp I guess, but you won't find an example with a lower mileage than that for the price. Silver too
