The guy I bought mine from gave me a stack of receipts to show what had been spent on the vehicle together with the service book.
I wouldn't buy a 15 year old vehicle unless I could put it through it's paces on a test drive.
If that is not possible walk away there are plenty of great examples about.

I've bought countless cars without a testdrive & from a selling perspective wouldn't offer one :? always happy to take a potential buyer out & cover all the bases ( back roads & mway ) but handing over the keys to a stranger who may or may not buy :? sorry , that's just not happening :|

Issues,
4 wheels need a refurb
2 rear tyres ready for replacement will change to none RF
Brakes warning I think worn rears, handbrake ok, red light turns amber when releasing handbrake.
Airbag light, not passenger as tried key.
Respray to bumper,

Car runs and drives ok
Gearbox seemed ok, brakes did work but not been used for a while, light rumble from rear which could of been brakes or hard rubber, maybe wheel bearing.
Knocked seller down so I think I will come out ok.
