New Purchase to replace my E89

Test drove an Audi R8 manual (V8, 4.2l) today and, after a lot of haggling to get £25,000 for my 35i with only 6300 miles on the clock, agreed to buy the Audi after it gets a full service at an Audi Main Dealer. The R8 is in immaculate condition and currently has a FMDSH with 34,000 miles on the clock.

very nice. there are quite a few threads about moving to an R8 at the moment.

I'd love one, but can only drive autos these days and the r-tronic is meant to be rubbish. I can't afford a newer one with s-tronic.

Lovely looking motor and it's a V8. Quite a step up in the performance stakes - very nice.
Maybe a small step up, but as the E89 is Stage 2 tuned with a larger intercooler and on a rolling road shows 386 BHP, not really a big one, although the quattro system and mid-engine will hopefully give better handling than the Z4 which with Eibach springs and anti-roll bars was pretty good!

A real suprecar! Looks beautiful. Mind you I would be frightened leave it parked anywhere.

Thankfully, I live in a small village in North Shropshire and the house is at the end of a very quiet, almost anonymous, lane. Mostly, I use it locally and it's rarely 'parked up' anywhere for more than 2-3 hours. To be honest, I'm more worried about my M6 and carry an IRD shielded box that I use immediately to stow the key after locking the car!

That looks fantastic, and it's a manual too!

I'll bet you can't wait to collect it. :D

You're right!
Looking forward to getting it but it was important to negotiate a full Audi Main Dealer service (due September) as that could easily set me back £600+! (Car on sale at a Vauxhall dealership).

Oh yes, service definitely needs to be done by Audi!

Well done - nice car! Made a similar upgrade myself last week. Seems like the R8 is a good route to go after the Z4 :driving:

Thanks! Would have liked a V10 myself but too expensive for me! :D

Probably about the most ugly looking car on the road bar a Veyron, BUT if you like it nothing else matters.

You lost your glasses John? These are fantastic looking things. Low and wide and not as 'look at me' as a ferrari. I think they're great.

 Nope, never liked them, just as the TT or Veyron shape etc, not my bag, like Zed coupes too.... :fuelfire:

Each to their own as usual though. Shame we don’t all like roadies as an M would be worth triple..... :D

Top of my shortlist to replace the 35iS aswell, but I am concerned the V8 is just not potent enough? How does the butt dyno feel? I guess the manual gearbox and mid engines nature make up for the torque drop?
