New project issues

Evening guys
I currently own a facelift e85 2.5 si which I’m very happy with.
To cut a long story short I’ve also just bought a 2004 pre face lift 2.2 cheap as a potential project.
I have the dreaded electrical gremlins which I’m in the process of trying to fix.
The car runs perfectly but have the following issues

Central locking works intermittently
Indicators work fine but display on dash cluster works every now and again.
Passenger headlight/sidelight was working but now when switched on no passenger headlight , but indicator light glowing constantly.
4 way flashers suddenly came on randomly, disconnected alarm plug and they went off.
Dash display lights illuminate randomly
Roof motor now working intermittently, but works perfectly now and again.
There are probably a couple more faults which I’ve missed,

Sorry if this is a bit long winded but any suggestions would be much appreciated
Don’t really want to break the car for parts if it can be fixed.
Cheers
Dave

Could be a number of factors at play here

Central locking- gm5?
Indicators and lights issue, dash etc- that sounds like an earth issue- check the 3 earthing points in the drivers and passenger footwells.
Roof motor- could be a connection at the motor or an earth issue

Indicator on constant is a failover as one of your sidelight bulbs has failed on that side.

Have you plugged it into a diagnostic tool? I’m wondering if one of your modules on the KBus is failing upsetting everything else.

I am no auto electrician, but from recent experience with car electrics, you have an earth fault somewhere (or everywhere).
Check all earthing points are tight and on bare metal, there are a lot of them BTW. Small amounts of rust on an earth terminal/ post is enough to make it unreliable.

Thanks for all your advice guys I appreciate it and I’ll take it onboard 👍
Just a quick update tho
Headlights now working fine when I reconnected battery, and n/s indicator not constantly glowing.
Central locking still randomly operating
Still no indicator lights on dash
Boot light is now on, it wasn’t previously
Window switch not working now on both sides
Not sure what I’ll find tomorrow 🤣🙄
All very strange but won’t let it beat me, not yet!!

Have you definitely got a decent connection on the negative (and positive) battery post? If either terminal is just a tiny bit corroded or dirty, or a slightly loose connection, it can play havoc. Ask me how I know!
Also check the battery to chassis negative connection. They can become loose or corroded.

Wot he said.
Get codes read and it may point us in the right direction.

Thanks for input guys.
The battery is basically new and the terminals are not corroded, Ive got the icarsoft bmw and mini specific reader, I’ll put it on again tomorrow and see if it brings anything up this time. I’ll also check earthing points for corrosion etc, hopefully sometime tomorrow. Need to get the windows up if I can, it’s not the switch as I tried the one from my other car which works perfectly.
Your advice is much appreciated 👍
