Hi all,

Well I've bitten the bullet and bought one, '03 3.0si. Took me a while to find one I liked, but boy was it worth the wait (and the 12hr round trip! Public transport is pants!!)

I'm in the southwest, Swindon area. Anyone else on the board about?
Any good/bad independants to use?

Well, Im off for another drive about. I cant seem to get enough!

Catch you all around,

Simmo

welcome,

Hope you took some photos while out.

If it's an '03 then it's and 'SE' not 'Si' so in full '3.0i SE'

somebody put some si badges on it which would be rather naughty.

I think its my error with the type, as for photo's I'll give it a proper clean up and then get some shots.

Its was a member called broaders, so there are a few pictures on here already, but I'll get some more scenic ones once I'm off shift next week.

My first challenge is to clean the roof, never washed a cabriolet before. Wouldnt mind giving it a bit of treatment too, so a search on here is to follow...

Anyone know any good independants in the Wiltshire/South west area? Got 11000 till the next service but its always nice to have a good mech at the end of a phone... ;)

Welcome

I used autoglm cab cleaner for the first time - and its very good makes the roof nice and black again.

I Used a stiky lint remover first to remove the dust instead of vacumming though.

Ah - I know the car now from the sales listing

The roof - be very careful. It's easy to mess it up. Lint brush as aquazi suggest is good pick bits off. Vacuuming and normal washing too. No scrubbing.

The 2 most common products to treat the roof are BMW's oem and Raggtop. Both are 2 part (cleaner then treatment) and widely regarded as the correct/best products to use. Avoid any cheapo Halfords type stuff.

I've used Auto Glym fabric hood cleaner & protector (usually found in a kit, with a special sponge) on my last 2 cars (z4 and mini cooper s convertible) and had excellent results every time.

Just mask off the glass and bodywork to avoid getting any of the protector on it, but if you do it comes off fairly easily with the Super Resin Polish (SRP).
