Hi all
Just got my first convertible it's a 2004 Z4 3.0i manual love this car but due to age of the car I'm expecting to have some niggles with it but that's part of it I guess. Thought I would join the community of like minded people who love these awesome cars. However sorry for my 1st post to come with a question I have a groan with the steering bit like a foghorn if anyone could shed some light on this I would be very greatful. Looking forward to the ownership and community of the Z4.

Welcome to Z ownership and the forum. We love photos of your new car as you will find out. My car is a similar age, have replaced front lollipop bushes, brake rotors and pads and treated it to a full fluid change, spark plugs and coil packs. Touch wood it is running great. Hood motors can be an issue with being flooded in the compartment it sits in, make sure the drainage vents are clear or even better shift it to the boot. Can’t help with the steering noise though steering can be ‘sticky’, there is a thread on that in this site.
Have fun, they are under rated cars.

Hi and welcome to the forum Kev.

Sorry I can't help with your steering issue, but hopefully someone will be able to offer some advice.

But we do like to see photos of members' cars!

Thanks for the welcome everyone pics I only just learned how to switch the computer on lol but I will try when the car is clean and the sun is out looking forward to a long ownership. :D

Start by lubricating the universal joints on the column, if you follow the steering wheel out of the car into the engine bay you will find 2 joints about a 2 foot apart if i remember rightly, I used spray silicone grease as you'll need a straw attachment to get at them, might clear up the groaning somewhat

Thanks Mr Tourette that's exactly what I've done and done the white collar coming out of the bulk head groning now gone. :driving:
