New owner with a few questions

hey guys, got a few questions if you can help?

The car has a stubby aerial and radio signal is poor at best! Has anyone got solution for the radio signal? (One that doesn't involve having a huge aerial back in the car)

Is there anyway I can stream music from my phone through the car? My current phone is a Samsung s10+.

I'm looking to get a bit more noise from the car. I've got the 3.0 n52 engine. Its a weekend car so I can live with it being a little loud. I don't want to spend fortunes on a full exhaust system. I've read that a few have done a backbox delete... what's your opinions?

Same goes with intakes, I know these run hot so any open filter will need a heat shield. Any recommendations on intake setups that doesnt break the bank?

Are there any other worthwhile things doing to the car that is relatively cheap? Any simple obd mods that can be done?

Thanks

Hello..do you have DAB fitted?

Is the signal poor on AM/FM/DAB?

Normally in your area can you get a good signal?

The E89 has quite a complex set of aerials so a few initial responses would help..

Again on the music streaming..do you have a USB socket in your central armrest cubby?

If you let us know the VIN or check it yourself it will tell you of the many options that could have been fitted what can be done as fitted and whast aftermarket options there are..

It doesn't have DAB. The issue was when i was driving the car back it wasn't picking up any FM stations and when it was they were dropping in and out constantly.

Its a bit hit and miss in my local area and none of my other cars have any radio signal issues

It does have a USB port an aux port in the armrest.

The aerial system in the E89 consists of the rod aerial for radio and telephone reception. Other components
of the aerial system are located in the rear bumper. This is where the aerials for the digital and analogue radio
as well as for telephone and TV are housed. The GPS aerial and DAB L-band aerial are located in separate
receiver modules in the upper cover of the windscreen.

The aerial diversity module with aerial amplifier is a special feature.

It may be that the diversity unit is faulty..changing from a stubby to a proper whip should make little effect.

Do you have iDrive?

You should be able to use your phone with a usb adapter as a surrogate ipod..

Without the VIN decoded not sure what you can do bluetooth wise..

Model year of car?

That's what I used Shaun, USB stick loaded with music. Never used the radio to be honest.

I couldn't find any intakes for that car and most exhaust options are expensive. Shame the Remus tips look really bad. I contacted them asking if I could choose others and it was a straight no sadly.

Its a 2010.

Unfortunately it doesn't have idrive.

I did try using a USB cable and it wasn't wanting to play music through the car. Could be the wrong type of cable...

The aerial module system seems quite complicated. I might have to leave that to the pros haha

I bought something very much like this for a lot less. + Phone mount.
Install in the arm rest, switch to aux input and enjoy mp3 through bluetooth from your phone. Job done.

Hi

I have a induction pipe and RAM Air filter for sale on Ebay which would suit your purposes. I purchased the pipe off another member here and the RAM Air filter is new.

Sounds great BTW.

You could consider installing this state of the art entertainment system

Welcome btw, great looking Zed :D

On a similar point - my 2013 E89 has Idrive and USB ports in the armrest and glove box, but why the heck can I not get music played from my phone, either stuff stored on the phone or streamed through Amazon music, direct to the carl? The phone connects okay as I can make calls but can't get any music apart from what's already been downloaded to the hard drive. My other car and van cause no such problems!

I quite like them actually - the older type look a bit dodge though (they had dots/dimples around the tail pipes).

Yes I'm defending my car as I have them fitted 😂

(they do make a fantastic noise, more to the point)

I had the same problem with mine (2016) model, it was sorted out by a local coder as mine had been fitted with a combox (apparently fitted as standard from 2014 onwards) but some models still had them fitted. The coder plugged the computer thingy in and 15 minutes later I had Bluetooth audio which could be controlled by my steering wheel controls.

The coder just asked for my VIN number before he booked the appointment (to check it was possible) 70 beer tokens changed hands and I was a happy bunny.

If you're in East London, I can give you the website of the guy I used, otherwise you could Google to see if there's anyone near you who can program it.
