Good morning all,

I am a new owner of a lovely 2004 e85 Z4, super happy with this purchase the car is spotless with only 39k on clock and I wanted to get registered with an owners club asap for advice and conversations on how to best look after my new pride n' joy.

I would also like to speak about some sensible modifications, nothing daft I'm 36 and not into ruining cars with Halfords extras but I would like to change the headlights to something a little stronger at some point etc.

So a big hello from me

Hi & Welcome

Lots of advice on the forum threads,, and the forum police will be after you to post some pics

Welcome and you will get plenty of advice on mods on here but make sure you have a separate account 😏 so the other half don’t see

Hi and welcome - I really like that colour.

If you want to upgrade the headlights I'm assuming yours are halogen - most people seem to recommend Osram Nightbreaker bulbs as an improvement, but there are other brands.

The best option would be a set of Bi-Xenon headlights, but they cost loads - and you need to have headlight washers to go with them!

Hi Guys,

Yea thanks I really love the colour also, I've had a shot myself and so far got one side done...

I love the idea of super bright lights for night time driving, does anyone use additional spots that don't look out of place on the Z4? I was thinking about small chrome LED's.

Anyway, here is an update pic...

Welcome to the forum, that's really low mileage for the year, got any interior shots..does it have wood.
One of the worse things you can do to these is fit a stubby aerial, the car sulks if you remove the whippy

good evening all
I am the proud owner of a 2005 alpina roadster s travelled 500 miles round trip from plymouth to mansfield to purchase well worth the effort and the garage were brilliant they even transported the alpina back to plymouth for me, it needs the roof motor moving to the boot and the vanos doing but that is for later got to get that roof down and get going ps having trouble downloading pics

Very smart, an easy mod is fitting cruise control as the early cars were pre-wired and most were plug and play.

Oh wow, Ok how do you do that?
That may be worth considering actually, I kind of feel I'd like it to be left quite pure but a few subtle changes for the better can't hurt

Oh, actually!!!! Cup holders, that has to happen soon too, maybe I'll just start a list... I'm actually tempted to document what I do and costs just for fun and reference in case anyone on here might be interested also. ~ Love a project me

Cup holders and cruise on the pre facelift, an absolute doddle to fit, lots of posts on here about fitting them

Hi Tia,

I went for a stealth set from HID's4u.com link here :
https://www.hids4u.co.uk/H7-HIDS4U-Stealth-55W-Xenon-HID-Conversion-Kit.html
They were £85 delivered and as the bulb is the same for low beam and high beam I bought 2 sets of the same.

Now, I had concerns because I have in the past bought a "slim" ballast from eBay and they blew in a matter of days but everything I've had from HIDS4U has been super quality and very fast delivery so the cost is re-assuring me.

Now, to answer your ease of install question... they are very straight forward wire wise and technically super simple you can't mess it up, however fiddly is not the word... I had to pretty much concertina my fingers to get the clips to keep the main beams in and the low beams are like trying to fit a razor into the base of a pringles tube without cutting yourself.... Nightmare!! ~ took me 2 hours to do one side and I left the other side to look forward to tonight.

So yea... totally worth it tho
