New owner from Essex!

Evening all. New member here, 23 from Essex. After a few years of owning big V8 and V10 Mercs and Audis (most recently an Audi S8), I picked up a nice little Z4 2.2i SE today which was for sale locally.

Here she is and so far I'm loving it! Black with a cream/tan coloured hood:

First job is get the bodywork and hood detailed. Years of jetwashing has taken its toll and most panels have swirl marks. Hope to get to know more about the car by reading lots of posts on here in the future!

Hi and welcome. Car looks good - I hadn't seen the black paint/tan hood before.

There's plenty of forum members in your neck of the woods!!
 
Thanks. I don't ever recall seeing one in this combo either so that appealed to me. As I say, it's got a few rough edges and little things which need doing. The seat back keeps falling off, the interior surfaces are a bit grubby but will be nice after a good clean. The engine bay is immaculate. The previous owner bought it from BMW Approved Used and covered about 10,000 miles in it.

It was either a Z4 or a Mercedes 190 2.5-16 Cosworth or big 560SEC as a rolling restoration but I thought I'd go for it with this Z4 (my first BMW) and hope for some great weather in the next few months to have the top down as much as possible!

I've had autos since I was 19 so it's very refreshing to now drive a proper manual with the wind in my hair :driving:

Audi S8 which I sold at the weekend to buy the Z4.

Had a brief fling with a W210 E55 AMG as well but it was too temperamental. I was always afraid to give it the beans in case something went pop.
 
That S8 is gorgeous. maybe one day a future Swiss Family-inkey$ type motor.

So annoying, mine keeps doing that to. Gonna go crazy with the super glue next time it pops off!

Thanks all. I think I've only seen one other Z4 with a tan hood but that had a light blue body.

I'm based in Chelmsford! (Galleywood specifically). I don't know if it's the roads around here or the 16" runflats I've got but this car tramlines epically! It seems more than happy to lunge to the right or left without warning. If it's the wheels/tyres then they will be high on my list of modifications lol

Looks like I just joined the forum after your annual meet! :headbang: I took the Audi for a 1,200 mile round trip up to Scotland last month for the A8/S8 annual meet to give it a good send off.

Never thought i'd like a tan hood on a dark coloured car, but works quite well.
