New Owner from Eastern Canada

Good Day All,

I've realized that I'm not as invincible as I once believed. As a result, I've decided to leave behind my motorcycle days behind and have purchased a car instead. I recently acquired a 2004 Z4 3.0i with a manual transmission in Toledo Blue. I am the third owner and this car has been well cared for so far. Thanks for all the information I have gathered here before making my decision to buy.

Fitz

Hello Fitz and welcome to the wonderful world of Z ownership. I did giggle at the comment ‘…it’s been well cared for SO FAR’ which might suggest you’re intentions are not pure 😉 enjoy the car, the forum and a spot of weather that appears considerably better than the UK right now

I went to Eastern Canada a few times. About as East as you can get. Goose Bay. Imagine travelling to the back of beyond, then another 1000 miles.

Welcome to the mad house. You will love it.

Whereabouts in Eastern Canada? Know the Niagara area quite well as we have relatives there that own a large winery

Nanu you have suddenly become my best friend on the forum
Its my wife's cousin. We visited last year and stayed on the vineyard. They have a cellar of their personal favourite wines, behind a steel door which has a very sophisticated security system and contains 4,000 bottles. Lets just say I made as bigger dent on their collection as possible in two weeks. We also flew over the falls in his helicopter which was great, but think it was a deliberate distraction from the wine cellar. 8)

It is a small world. I lived in Goose Bay from 2009 to 2015. Would I be correct in guessing that it was something aviation-related that brought you to that corner of the planet?

Thanks for the welcome! I live in Prince Edward Island, just off the east coast of Canada. I have been poking and prodding at this new car to figure out how everything works. I plan on driving it for the summer and then when the snow starts to fly It's coming apart so I fix a few things that are annoying me already. The road noise from the back is a lot, the CD player doesn't work, and AM/FM radio isn't going to cut it. I am researching a floating screen radio by an American company called BOSS Audio (BE9ACP-C Package) that looks perfect as a replacement for an easier price tag than the big-name brands. I also sound deadened by Toyota Tacoma two years ago and I will do the Z4 this winter.

I am trying to source a OBD reader that will allow me to change the settings on my 2004 to open the roof with the key. I just tried an Ancel BD300 but no luck. Any suggestions for a less expensive option that will still allow me to program the roof, lights, etc?

Have a great day!

I was enthralled at the idea of access to a Niagra region wine cellar as well. 8)

I was there before that. Late 80s, early 90s, with various RAF Tornado Squadrons.

If you can find an old laptop ideally running Windows 8 then you can buy Scanner 1.4 which will do a lot of coding and fault diagnosis for you.
This is the UK eBay website but gives you a lead at least:

Best colour and 107 wheels, what is not to like.

And welcome aboard
