New Owner Collection Tips

I admit I always think it feels like the front of the car is pointing upwards, as the centre part of the bonnet is in view. The low (ish) driving position is supposed to be part of the "roadster" experience I presume. The car does feel different with the roof down, though.

she can’t see over the bonnet

Unfortunately I think this is why my OH wouldn’t drive ours but she’s quite small at about 5’2 ish. She also couldn’t get the seat high enough either.

Hopefully a bit of sunshine and time to try all the different settings will help

Falsely quoted again!
C'mon mods, this could lead to a 'Horner/Wolff' incident if we don't get it sorted.

Same my OH won't drive mine - she is 5'4 but I am sure she could get the seat right and have no issues at all if needed

Lynn is 5'2 (Standing on something 3 inches high) and says she will have a drive of the Zed. She would not drive the 718.

Thanks for the comments guys, unfortunately my wife chooses a car from a picture I show her but doesn’t like dealerships anymore than I do, so I collect and deliver and my wife either likes or not, fingers crossed as some of you said roof down may help and contrast from i3 to Z4 is right, 🤞🏻

Andrew, me thinks the forum software is not your friend today

You should know better than making comments like that with the Carry On sense of humour on here

Very tame compared to the Boxa forum mate, I'm restraining myself.

Anyway, is 3 inches not the English average?

First I hope minor issue, roof will go down with remote but will not go up with the remote, suggestions welcome 🤞🏻
That's correct.
You need an aftermarket 'smart-top' device wired in to get full control of it.

Thanks, in the handbook it says the roof can be operated to open or close from the remote, and as it does open from the remote I assumed it would close it or am I missing something 🤔

I think it may if you have the Comfort Pack? Not 100% certain tbh..

If you have the CA option you should be able to close the roof with the key, I believe. HOWEVER, owners have commented that they need to stand very close (closer than 3mtrs) for it to work. Also make sure the car battery is in top condition, it may not allow some features to work if the battery is undercharged. If your car has the original battery it may be about time to replace it, these BMW's are very sensitive to low voltages and can throw all sorts of codes and issues. If you don't have CA, you cannot close the roof remotely without a 3rd party module (Smarttop) - very good but very expensive for what it does.

Well I’m afraid after 3 weeks we decided the Z4 was not the right car for my wife so sold it with a £3k loss and moved on, we are now out of bmw as the i3 is gone and back to good reliable internal combustion on both our cars.
