New owner - a few questions!

Hi guys,

I've just made a quick introductory post:

And have a few questions. I'm sure there will be more

1) The buttons on the radio do not light up when the lights are on, only the display is lit. Is this how it should be? If not what is the likely cause? I have the single CD player, no nav.
2) I am considering getting some MV2 alloys. What offset etc do I need, will pretty much any E46 etc set fit or are Z4 ones unique?
3) The dash is showing a bulb warning. The interior lights have been changed to LEDs - is this likely to be the cause? I don't want to change them if not
4) What styles of interior door handle covers are available? I have piano black dash trim, so should I try and source piano black ones? Or are they all the same.
5) How much of a Z4 coupe and roadster interior is the same? I am considering swapping the interior and E85 ones are obviously much easier to come by.

1. not sure, I dont think the buttons in my last z4 lit up either
2. not sure, i'm pretty sure someone would love to swap their mv2s for some csl reps though.
3. It is the LEDS, I'd start with changing the footwell ones ....car reports as side light bulb but they both work so must be the interior lights as it came on after I swapped them.
4. only the standard silver ones, but some people have had theirs professionally sprayed black, theres a hydrographics thread made by mac and ranski around where they've done this
5. all the interior minus the rear speaker covers and boot fittings.

Thanks for the reply Mike, thought I'd post here rather than hound you with messages :lol:

I have reverted all of the interior bulbs (I prefer the look of the OEM ones anyway) but the warning light still comes up. I can't see any interior or exterior bulbs that aren't working, how do you find out which bulb the car thinks needs changing? Maybe it's loose or something.

hmm well if you've changed all 3 in the center light and one in each footwell then i'm not sure...

when I plugged it in, it said sidelight but they appear to work fine.... :?

the day I changed the interior lights I also changed one of the headlight bulbs but the light didn't come on until I did the interior lights.

I've got piano trim and wrapped my door pull handles which are very easy to do but the door opening handles are much harder to do, but worth the effort I think. Cost was about £5 for a 1ft square of 3M gloss black vinyl off fleabay.

I have all interior led bulbs and no bulb warning.

Maybe its one of the indicator bulbs on the front headlight thats gone?

I think I've solved the bulb issue - does anybody know what this bulb is supposed to do?



I've tried every switch and can't get them to turn on on either side, so they appear to be blown, but not sure what they are for.

Hi edd_jedi, we,re also newbies and have the bulb indicator light is on, but all the obvious one's seem fine. Be keen to see how you get on.

Yes mate it was just the headlamp side lights, both bulbs had gone. I've actually sorted everything in this thread now - it was the Dension causing the radio not to light up and the Bluetooth to not work :lol:
