Hi!

I've been lurking about and window shopping for Z's for a long time, having previously had NA and NB MX-5's.

Finally picked up a 3.0 litre 2004 with fairly low miles a couple of weekends ago, so just thought I'd pop by to introduce myself, and also belatedly say thanks for all the information that helped with the purchase!

I've included a slightly rubbish picture from the journey home from purchase, but will hopefully take some better ones once i've replaced the slightly rubbish alloy caps with official ones, and had some time to give it a proper clean and polish! :D

Welcome! Like you, I have owned and still do a 1991 NA and enjoy driving both when the occasion arises :)

Hhhmmm , different but nice touch on the X5 alloys 8) rarely seen on a Z but we do have a member with a set of black ones on his black Si
welcome to the forum

Thanks folks! Appreciate the welcome! :)

Loving the comparative luxury, relative silence at motorway speeds and straight-line power after the 5, and also a big fan of the growl and subtle occasional 'crackling' sounds from the exhaust at low speeds (mostly at gear change with sport mode on, I think, or on deceleration).

On the slightly less positive side the steering feels relaxed, if heavy, but definitely less precise than an MX-5, with a slight wooliness, and I'm still getting used to the fact that it has a relatively low RPM cap.

The acceleration/speed also feels a bit less in your face at times, but that must just be the comparative smoothness of the power delivery and the refinement of the car, because a quick glance at the speedo tells another story...

That all said, really it needs a proper service/Inspection II + a bit of wheel rebalancing before it gets a real review. At the moment I'm getting very noticeable and escalating vibration at 80+. Even as is, I'm extremely happy with the purchase though, huge amount of fun in the right conditions, and so much better as a daily drive in towns and on the motorway. Also, seeing those sweeping lines and curves in the wing mirrors keeps on making me smile! :D

Ah thanks! The previous owner mentioned he grabbed them off ebay (and one of my first discovery was that the little bmw alloy caps were fake, loose and basically rubbish), so was wondering where they were from. That instills a little more faith! :)
