Hi all,

Picked up a 2.5si E85 Z4 a couple of weeks back and loving it so far! Car is smooth and powerful, as happy blasting some B roads as it is cruising on the motorway.

There's some work that needs to be done, the car needs new discs and pads all round, the roof motor needs relocating, and there's an issue with the roof not folding consistently - it folds flat, but the light in the dash keeps flashing and you can hear the motor whirring as it tries to latch it down. Doesn't happen every time, but it is annoying - any advice would be appreciated!

Also not a fan of the black wheels - I'll probably be looking for some type 108s in the near future...

That looks lovely, you can’t beat a red Zed. There are plenty of guys on this Forum that can help you with your roof.

Welcome to the forum. Lovely looking zed there. Those look like style 203 wheels. Personally, I'd be getting them refurbed to the colour of my choice. From what I've seen, I think they're a rare wheel on a zed.

Welcome to the forum. If they are 203s they are a rare wheel indeed and worth getting properly ‘furbed. I’m not sure they are though, without a proper side on shot.

Either way, I agree a red zed looks better on gunmetal or standard silver.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Red is quite a rare colour on E85s but looks great - just not with black wheels!

Having said that I think they might look pretty good in silver or maybe Shadow Chrome. I'm not sure I would rush to get 108s. While they do look good, they seem very prone to lacquer lifting around the heads of the bolts due to corrosion and a refurb is expensive because a proper job involves splitting the rims and centres which often leads to snapped bolts.

I sold my 108s before that happened. :)

There are roof whisperers in Bristol, Hampshire, Lincoln and Norfolk.

A Z4 and a sun set. Almost perfect. Just needs to be driven. :driving:  Welcome to the forum. :)

Welcome.
Fold the roof halfway back then check the material above the rear of the door window. Sometimes it folds inwards in a triangle shape and the extra thickness is enough to prevent it going fully down. Just needs to be pulled out. A lot of them do it.

Thanks for the tip! Love the beadlock look but sounds like it's probably not worth it haha

108’s are nice. The ride quality is fine with the correct tyre pressure.
I’m looking at oem replacement shocks as mine are on the originals and that improve the ride even more.

I quite like the idea of anthracite/dark grey wheels on my coupe but I also like my 108’s.

They definitely look like 203s to me, I'll start with a refurb and see how they look!

Well they are also a 5 spoke design but without the potential headache of 108s, so a refurb in a decent colour has to be a good start.
