New OEM-Style Screen Upgrade for Z4 (2003–2008 models)

As nice as it looks and fits, I wouldn't want to lose my vents. One of the things I love about the E85 is the fact that it doesn't have one of those screens. My little run about 2000 Clio has a cassette player and I love it. Would love to fit one in the Z lol.
I bought a Panasonic Walkman from ebay and have it connected via the aux to my BMW business cd/radio. Sounds surprisingly good with my old cassettes :yu: :yu:

To each their own, Apple Car play is pretty great add. It made my Z4 feel like a new car

Looks great, but like other have said its a bit pricey! If it was under 500 quid all in I'd be up for it, but as it stands it's a bit rich for my blood. Hopefully some people will buy it and help bring the price down...wishful thinking

The screen alone is around $300 USD (225 quid) my cost. Then there are all the other electronic and plastic parts. No way I could sell it for 500 quid without losing money especially for all the parts that are needed/included. Thanks for your feedback though!

To be fair, I am doing my Abarth at the moment, and parts alone are £680. For the Z4 system I was re-using the existing screen and the parts for the rest was £440.

If you don’t have a screen already, this is a very nice solution for those that got a Z without the monitor.

Are you able to send a close up picture of the vent mount plastic alongside the OEM radio unit plastic? From the pictures on the website the finish looks rough but I thought that maybe a prototype unit used for the website.

Alternatively, can you send me a picture with android auto? I heard that specific unit has some aspect ratio issues with android auto. I.e: the icons look squished.

The price doesnt sound crazy to me. Problem is the AC

I can’t sacrifice my 2 ac vents, as spring through fall in the south is brutally hot. Love the look of this unit, though! Do you have alternate mounting options? Maybe near the front edge of the dash?

I have a video of the startup if that helps:

First, amazingly quality job. That said, I agree with everyone else that blocking the AC vents is is a unfortunate compromise.

Can I suggest having the display go BELOW the radio? You could in theory even "block" the radio display or make it vertically adjustable. Personally once you set the radio presets it's not that important to have the radio display but a large navigation screen where the radio's located is highly beneficial.

Am I missing something…? If the car still has windscreen, side and lower air vents, isn’t this sufficient for 95% of conditions? Plus, if you’ve a convertible the roof would be down 95% of the time (and, if like me you like fresh air, if your roof is fixed the windows are down?). Seems a small compromise to get a great OEM look. That said, as an E89 owner with the flip satnav etc system, I’m ok that’s (which includes the centre vents 🤣🤣). Seriously though, what a great effort. I love reading about just how ingenious some of you guys and girls are at improving these cars. ❤️

Maybe it's my profession, but I'm a functionality over form kind of person, and losing the center AC vents if you're in a warm-to-hot climate is a big impact (to me). At highway speeds I don't like the top down or windows open, the wind noise (even with the wind deflector) is too much.

From a practicallity standpoint, if you run the heater now with the center vents blocked you'll HEAT the display which is an issue for LCD screens as well.

That's a pretty impressive achievement in terms of design and functionality, but my car has the OE Sat Nav so I'd prefer something up to date that would fit in that housing.

Agreed.

My car has mfsw and it's still works for volume buttons. Do you have any other functionality for your business cd today? My car only allows volume.

The designed mould that goes into the vent, does it only come in one colour? Correct me if I'm wrong but, the pre-LCI and the LCI had different colours for the radio unit

I’ve come to realize that Z4 owners often have different setups in their vehicles. To accommodate this, I’ve decided to sell the integration kit separately from the screen.

https://dashcraftauto.com/pages/bmw-z4-tech-upgrades

The DashCraft Z4 Integration Kit is priced at $599 USD and includes the following:

OEM-Integrated Bezel with Heat and UV protection

Adapter Bracket

Air Vent Plug

USB-C Power Adapter

This kit is designed to work specifically with the Carpodgo T3 Pro screen, if your wondering if the screen will work with your setup please see the carpodgo support pages to see how it will connect to your vehicle. (sold separately here: https://www.carpodgo.com/products/t3pro).

Thanks everyone-

Is this version available only in black or also grey colour too match the interior radio unit for those of us that have a pre-facelift Z4?
