New number-plate, what to get?

as above, my number-plate looks like it originally came with a thin film protector which was supposed to peel off but wasn't so now its all peeling off all over the place and looks crap.

so couple of questions,

1. what styles are there available (i.e Eng flag, Uk on the side etc?) - i know i can spend hours on ebay etc looking at options but curious what others have here
2. whats the normal size on cars and whats the minimum size that's legal?
3. plastic or metal (only ever seen metal/pressed plates in america i think?)
4. best way to fix new plates, pretty sure mine are just stuck on at the moment so just a case of peeling off, giving a good clean and using something to stick back on?

I've got metal pressed paltes, UK legal font and totally reflective (much more reflective than the plates that came off the car!) I used tapatalk for all my pics, I don't have any to link any more to show :-(

maybe i have seen metal pressed plates then and just not realized lol, forgot to ask for pics so if anybody has any of theirs please feel free to share. seen a few people with stick on plates and off centre etc but im happy with standard tbh but just wondered what my options were without having to spend much more for something that can look a bit better for a few quid more

I keep it clean and simple.

My plate is my surname so I don't have any badges or flags or anything. Plain white and plain yellow stuck on with sticky strips so no unsightly screw caps.
My current set of plates have been on 3 cars prior to this one and are fine.

yea i dont want any plate holders or anything so happy to just stick on (providing whatever i use wont damage anything) and think plain and simple is best, might look into the pressed metal plates and see what they look like

Be sure to select 'road legal' and you can't go wrong.
You can 'mock up' different country badges if that's what you're after (I prefer the clean look - just the letters and numbers)
They deliver within a few days and the quality is always perfect.

I've just received a new set of personal plates from them and they are top quality - am waiting for the DVLA transfer to complete before I can put them on my car

A dull day took to me to new levels today, jacked the car up and yep, hold your breath, polished the back boxes. Must admit, if you have too much time on your hands then it isn't a bad thing to do - I always find little things like this cheer the car up loads.

The underside of the tips are a bit shot, and the boxes could be gone over again but surprisingly satisfying.

erm.. the above is a copy of another page, might work I don't know. It doesn't show how reflective they are but that isn't an issue at all with them.

I just have plain old Halfords plates on mine because I didn't want to wait when I changed the plate, they do say halfords on them but only in a slightly cloudy/etched look, not black. I have M plate holders on the car which pretty much cover it up anyway
