New Nose Job

After an eventful car park episode (ongoing, waiting 2 months for Newark Police to get a report written) at Newark Stn, where someone reversed into the front of my car, removing 2 x grills, scraping paintwork, snapping numberplate and splitting number plate mounting.... my car is finally on the mend

Bumper was removed last Wednesday and sent to the local bodyshop for sanding, repair and painting. After looking at the front end for half a day, I'm afraid I decided to clean and do a mini-detail on it...

After cleaning all the rubbish (leaves, grease, muck etc) out, I removed the bumper mount and cleaned up the radiator, resprayed black and then treated the plastics to a coating of protector (aka WD40 :))

Horns were removed, and metal resprayed with some smoothrite, so completely black now.

Bumper was then fixed back on - no number plate yet as I'm taking it in for an estimate on bumper protector first (see if its worth it)

Very happy with the paint job and colour matching, very shiny, just need to get the bonnet sorted now with some black hole and dodo juice, so it looks as shiny!

In this day and age cars shouldn't need number plates, just an electronic tag...

That would mean sensors everywhere though which would probably mean sticking to the speed limits all the time also.

If I every had to get my front sprayed I'm going to run without a plate until I get pulled.
 
Nope, mines never had the Alpina text picked out - Glyns did though, maybe it was his you were thinking of? It's an option that some get on their Alpinas, but I find it a bit shouty on a red spoiler... looks good as graphite on black ones though :thumbsup:

That's a very good point... I was thinking you'd just have sensors in existing cameras an what is currently ANPR, but the opportunity would be taken to expand it I guess :(
 
Ok, so plates are back on now, although I have moved them down slightly from the original position. Will take pictures when I've cleaned the bugs off after today's trips (weather too good not to) :D

Went down to Totally Dynamic to talk protective wraps - it appears that wrapping the bumper and spoiler with clear stone chip protection film will cost over £300. Standard wrap will cost around £150 - they are confident they can colour match the vehicle, and that it will afford stone chip protection (although I'm not convinced on the level of protection).

Am still looking around, will try PaintShield next, based in Peterborough....

Bet you're please to get rid of any gravel rash.

Spent over 3 hours cleaning my RoadsterS tonight, gravel rash/stone chips on the front spoiler are really annoying me.. :x
 
Yeah, looks so much better without the gravel rash, Andy :thumbsup: The spoiler is just so prone to it, its why I'm looking at the stone protection film as the first stone chip, am going to be gutted...

So, Paintshield will do a full design and install, and guarantee for 5 years, but it doesn't come cheap - £425 plus VAT :o

So, the search continues.....
 
New location for the numberplate - effectively dropped lower so bottom edge of plate mount is aligned with the top edge of the lower spoiler gap.

Also had the number plate mount colour matched
