That's interesting. Mine are hot in seconds.

When I say too long, I mean about 3 or 4 minutes. I used mine this morning, it took a couple of miles to feel the benefit.

I've owned 3 E89's and now a 4 series, the response has been the same in all of them.

Really :? sure they aren't faulty ? mine are toasty before ive even left the cul de sac & no3 setting requires cream + bandages if you go over 2 mins  :D

Ive done the retrofit, and its on the forum. Took me a long time though because the advice is patchy and relates to the 3 series which the Z4 electrics appear to be based on. It'll also cost quite a bit too - assuming you want heated msport seats, plus the proper switch (which I was lucky enough to pick up for £400 and £80 respectively, but these can be much more). I made all my looms, it wasn't too bad once you have a proper wiring diagram (also on here). Mine take a few minutes to warm up too.. and about 10 mins to get too hot on level 3! Maybe there's newer seats that get hotter more quickly? I think my seats are from a 2009 car (same year as mine).

My Mrs loves them hers is always on full 3 every time she comes out in it. they only take a few mins to warm up.
the steering wheel heater is lovely in this cold weather...

Sounds like we need a consumer test by members.

It's bin day tomorrow so have to pull the car out of the garage and will time them.

Dr-Jon....

HEATED STEERING WHEEL, didn't realise you could get them as well for the Z4.

Clarker 63, yes i read your thread on the retrofit heated seats, absolutely no chance i am going to attempt anything like that, although can't wait for my £11 e bay purchase which is a plug in seat warmer..

If you have electric seats the heated part is relatively simple (just bridge the wires at the seat connector). I had the most basic seats, non leather, non electric which meant I needed to add all the cables... I look forward to the reviews of the £11 ebay heater.. :D

Did eventually test the warming time. Pulled out of the garage and set to full, within 800 yards (Still on old money) started to feel the heat coming through and within another 400 full heat and had to turn it down a bit.

This.....setting 3 is only of any use after a minute or two if you need to warm up....nay toast....your haemorrohoids.... :o

The £11 heater is brilliant, it works a treat and well worth the money especially this morning at -5 degrees.

by the time i took took the frost of the windscreen, it was nice and warm.

Yes i agree it doesn't look pretty but needs must.
