New model Z4 interior spy shots

I think it'll look better in the metal. Whats wrong with push button starts by the way? OK it's over the top in a 1.4lt hatch but why not in a sporty roadster?

It's difficult to make a judgement without seeing the whole interior in conjunction with the rest of the car but I've got to admit that those knobs do look like they've been stolen from a 60's cooker.

I've just moved out of an Audi TT and wouldn't want the Z4 tarnished with the same sort of reputation for "oh so trendy" retro knobs. (I'm not so sure if they were talking about the car's interior or the drivers  )

By the way, the car in the picture is obviously only a prototype as they appear to have put the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car. :P

Plainly obvious :D

I HATE push button starts. The most pointless gimmick of all time. Hate them hate them hate them.

R/C/L is fine, but turning a key to start a car was one of the most satisfying things ever...the motor industry should have kept it!

Grrrrrr

I actually agree with you there, it does seem daft... what I REALLY meant is our key seems so antiquated compated to the Audi one that feels smaller and has a switchblade effect when you press the button LOL!

You get used to it sure, but its on everything....118Ds to M cars. I just prefer the feel of turning a key. On the new Mini, the slot is right underneath the button, and if its not in its slot it won't start. So basically...its a key. But instead of a key you get this stupid looking, massive round plastic fob.

In addition, nobody has standardised it yet. In some cars it must be in neutral, others you dip the clutch. Some you throw the fob anywhere, others there is a slot for it. The E92 for example - got to dip the clutch in that, even though I DO know how to drive and tend to know if I am in gear before I start the car. When you stop driving, reach for the key and nope - you can't have it. You've got to press the stop button before you can have it back. So a once simple action has become two. Keys just worked...

I'm pro technology and improvements - I actually like iDrive - but I just don't get change for changes sake. Modern Indicators for example - soft touch rubbish that have you blinking left and right for the first few days while you get the hang of them. What was wrong with indicators?!? They worked just fine. Now I can go into a sub menu and choose how many times they flash. Why?

and of course, those might not be the final choice for knobs, they might just be something to have there as a place holder for something a bit nicer

I thought the push button start in my old S2000 was interesting - for a few months. The novelty quickly wore off and I found it quite annoying by the time i traded it in for the Z4.

So far I am glad I got one before things got weird. It will be a few years before I am back on the market to replace this one and so far nothing I see on the horizon is tweaking my interest.

Think it's too fussy.

I love getting into my zed on a cold winter morning (or cold summer morning) and feeling the brushed alluminium is ice cold. Sign of quality.

Can't see that in the photos.
