Evening all :D Ive had a few Bm,s over the year 330ci vert e36 evo
Yesterday i picked up a 2003 Z4 2.5 SE.
Wasent really looking but it was to cheap not to buy.
Must say im impressed with the 2.5 engine it just seems to thrive on high rev,s.
The 330ci i had a few years ago felt quite flat for a 3.0 and put me off the 6,s for a while.

Anyway the first of what im sure will be lots of questions is if i fit different wheels will it set off the low tyre pressure light on the dash?

Hi and welcome.

It is a forum requirement to see some pics of this new acquisition.before answering questions.

However, as it is one of those rare ones that I think I can answer I will. I believe that the car detects low pressure in a tyre by comparing its relative rotation speed vs the other one on the same axle. Therefore changing the wheels won't cause a problem.

If I am wrong then someone will correct me!

You owe us pics still!

Enjoy :driving:

Welcome OP - sounds like you got a bargain, but I hope you enjoy it.

I think rickrob has answered your question about tyre pressure sensors and new wheels, bit I would make sure the pressures are right when you fit them then re-set the warning system so it detects any change in pressure from when you fit your wheels, rather than from when it was last reset (hope that makes sense)!

Looking forward to the photos - and what wheels are you planning to fit? I think I would look for 107s, but maybe you are going a bit more radical!

Thanks for the replys  I,l get some photos up over the weekend.
Not sure what wheels yet it has 4 bald tyres atm hence me thinking of changing the wheels the same time.
Im thinking MV1 or ac schnitzer but plenty of time for that yet no idea what 107,s are but im 40 now so nothing to bling :D

Not my cup of tea a bit to bling for my liking.
Will all bmw wheels post 2000 cars fit?
No, they need to have offsets that suit your model.

Welcome,

The 107's were an 18 inch factory upgrade on the Z4. I have them on mine, quite like them but as wheels go I think they are quite conservative relatively speaking. If you think they are too bling wait till you get a load of some of the wheel folks on here have!
Unless of course you were just refering to the shadow chrome finish on the ones in DLH's photo. Heres some in the standard finish.

The weekend??. That is days away. How patient do you think we are? It is still light at 9:00pm - surely you can take pics before the weekend?

They look much nicer in this photo :)
Ive just been looking around the car (Mot out shortly)
it has 3 different tyres sizes! Whats the correct size for 16" wheels? Are they staggered?

16" rims were not staggered (ie style 102 / 104) they were 7" width front and rear. I would guess that the tire size would be 235/50 R16 or thereabouts.

Most folks on the forum tend to have 18" or 19" rims on their Z4's I believe (which are staggered).

BTW The weekend came and went, but no photos - come on, buck up. :poke:

:worthless:

I only registered Monday  The car looks bit of a dog at the moment. (Seen as i Bought it) so don't shout
Think the previous owner dident like a bucket or sponge
Needs a bit of paint work at the rear bumper corner to.
Mot next week then in for a bit of paint work thinking of fitting a boot spoiler the same time.

Those wheel arches need filling! Ditch the 104's and get some nice 18" wheels.
