Hi all,I decided to take the plunge and pick myself up a z4 for summer fun here in south of France after 8 years of e36 use which I’ll keep as my daily.Used car prices here are steep compared to the uk so I flew into Manchester last week and picked myself up a 2.2 2004 with only 63,000 m on the clock, photo was taken outside my house yesterday, great roads here for z4 fun,I’ve got plenty of work to do,it’s off the road already doing the valve cover gasket and rebuilding the driveshaft cv joints and rust underneath is more of an issue with this car than my e36.

Welcome, looks nice on its 103 wheels, which mountains are there in the backdrop? or ..where are you based?

No top down? :poke:

Welcome to the forum.

That's a great photo of your Maldives Blue Z4 with a stunning back-drop.

I'm surprised you are finding rust though unless you mean rusty mechanical components, which may not be a surprise on a car from the Rainy City!

But it looks like you are handy with the spanners so I hope you get it sorted in time for roof-down season. :driving:

Thanks for the reply, they are the Pyrenees in the background,I’m about 1 hour south of Toulouse on the way to Andorra.
I built my own inspection pit in my garage to change the clutch on the e36 over Christmas time,so it’s now being put to good use as you can see.

We may see you then on our trip to Andorra in September then?

Looks like a great garage …

You’re coming to Andorra? Then count me in.
The garage is getting there considering it was like this in November,I think I’ve opened a can of worms with this car, body and interior is great, underneath the subframe, anti roll bar, trailing arm lower wishbones etc are rusty,I found some lemforder lower wishbones I bought for my e36 that didn’t need replacing seem to fit although part numbers are not the same,I’m replacing brakes and suspension soon, cruise control stork mod, will need to wait .

Rob

Nice roads, that’s for sure mate, fuel prices have rocketed here though, another good reason to go to Andorra.

Welcome on board and good luck with getting the Zed how you want it. That colour just seems perfect for cruising around the south of France in the summer months

Thanks,
This is the last picture of it in the uk,and it seems to have attracted a mate in the halfords car park in lakeside.

Hello and welcome. Lovely colour of Z4 and an ideal location :driving:

My brother has a house down your way somewhere, he can fly into Lourdes/Toulouse/Pau but I’ve no idea where it is

As Peter has mentioned there’s a forum run practically passing your door so would be good if you could join us for at least some of it

Thanks Andy,I’ll be on the Andorra trip for sure.
Where does everyone get their oem bits from at more reasonable prices than the dealers? Is there such a place?
The trouble with having an inspection pit in my garage I can literally see everything that needs doing, these brake pipes for instance,I managed to save them and with a bit of a clean up should be ok,I would rather replace them as I’m replacing discs, pads, fluid and parking brake shoes but at €52 and €71 respectively I’ll wait until I change the fluid next time in a couple of years.

Drop Peter (B21) a PM if you want any exact details of the trip

Re the parts, AUTODOC app seems to be a favourite and you being mainland Europe you may not experience the delivery delays we can at times. The other thing to keep in mind is for non service items BMW can at times be the cheapest. Always worth getting a quote from them too.
