Hi,

My girlfriend's 2002 e46 320d has gone to a breakers (it had 240,000 miles, slipping clutch and ABS light) so she's got herself a 2009 e86 3.0si! I've always thought these were dead sexy so I'm really really chuffed!

She needs a good clean (can anybody recommend a detailer near Coventry for a polish?) but here are the obligatory pictures from the autotrader advert:

I bought her some gas struts as they are slow AF + some oil and filters for a service. Only 3k since last service but always service new cars! She's done 97,000 so it's just broken in. Let me know what needs doing/checking?

Also need to get her some winter alloys: is the 3.0si like the e46 330(C)i, i.e. bigger brakes so need 17" min? Any recommendation for a cheap but good looking set of alloys?

Cheers,

Tom

Hi and welcome. Car looks great!

Hope that you tell your girlfriend that she's sexy as well!

Enjoy :driving:

WOW we are getting some Coupes on board this last few weeks. Club coupe welcomes you.
Nice choice your girlfriend has a keen eye for a good looking car!!

Welcome to the forum OP - another great Coupe! And it seems to have most of the options - Bi-Xenons, rear parking sensors, heated seats, MFSW, Cruise Control plus a ZHP gearknob.

And another welcome to the exclusive Coupe club!

But why is it your girlfriend's car? You really should give it a test drive!

Lastly the answer is it is like the 330 E46 models - you will need at least 17s to clear the front brakes. I'm in the process of selling a set of 18s with Falken winters, but will let you know if it doesn't work out.

Thank you. Love the coupe. It's taken me about 3 years to convince her but it was worth it! She almost bought a e92 330i but thankfully it was too far away.

Thank you. Very happy with the options lists. It was advertised an SE but it sure looks like a Sport to me. The gearknob was changed by a previous owner: it's great. It's got the power fold mirrors and the upgraded Carver sound system (although it doesn't sound that amazing but who cares as should be listening to the engine anyway).

I did give her a test drive, in fact so far I've done more miles in it that my girlfriend - lol. It's awesome. It's my girlfriends as she wanted a sport car before we have children. Obviously my plan is to keep her and change my 330Ci for a family car when the time comes.

Thanks for confirming the brakes. Falken winters would be awesome, do let me know if they are available.

Well it looks like it is a Sport as it's got the M-Sport seats and steering wheel!

Power-fold mirrors seem to very rare on Z4s - result.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's a Sport. I put the plate into BMW Warranty and it came up as a Sport. Will check the VIN once the V5 arrives.

Power fold mirrors are cool.

The gas strut eBay sent me aren't the right size though :headbang:

Welcome !
Everything that makes a Sport a Sport was available as options on an SE. Run your VIN through a decoder (or post it here) to check it's original spec.

The VIN decoder I used (https://decoder.bvzine.com/) doesn't specify if it's SE or Sport...

These are the options:

I thought that was strange, but looking back the sites I've used don't specify whether the car is a Sport or not. :?

But I think it must be - who would buy an SE and then opt to pay extra for M-Sport suspension, M-Sport seats, M leather steering wheel and Headlining anthracite? And 108 wheels were an option even on Sport models! With all those bits on I'd regard it as a Sport, whatever any paperwork says!

Agreed. When I put the plate to get an online quote for BMW warranty it came up as BMW Z4 3.0SI SPORT COUPE N52 3.0. I don't really mind anyway, it's great fun to drive!
