Hi all, and many thanks for having me on your great forum.

I have just purchased a 2013 Z4 S20i. I must admit I wasn’t planning on purchasing another car at all, but this one caught my eye whilst driving past the garage that had it up for sale. An hour later and the paperwork was signed, and I am looking forward to collecting her in a few days.

I can’t say I really know a great deal about these cars (actually, I know nothing) and was just after some opinions from existing owners on what the car is like to live with, recommended modifications, any problem areas etc..

Hopefully I have made a good choice. The car has only had 1 previous owner, 55k miles on the clock, full dealer history, and seems to have a few options boxes ticked (19” wheels, Logic 7 hifi to name a couple)

I have purchased the vehicle with the sole intention of it being a weekend toy, and not an everyday drive, and would like to take some time making some shuttle modifications throughout my ownership. Again, if you guys think this is a bad idea I am all ears to your advice.

I look forward to your replies, and being part of the Z4 community

Kind regards

Paul

Hi Paul, you sound American.
I didn't have to search google for the meaning of any the words in your post :) This sounds like an impulse buy.
Congrats on the car. I think you will love it.
Post a pic of the Z as soon as you can. We'd love to see it.

Hi Paul, i reckon you’re from the uk as the merrycans only got the 28i i think and not the 20i?
Had my 20i for nearly 3 years now with no issues apart from cracked 19’ wheels (tadts)
Good on petrol, cheapish tax, remap turns it into a space shuttle. Good all rounder imho

I am indeed from the UK gents! Northamptonshire to be precise lol. Looking forward to collecting the car next week, and I will be sure to get some pictures up.

Funny that crack wheels is mentioned a lot. My NSR wheel was found to be cracked on the PDI and they are now awaiting a new rim. I would of picked the car up last week if it wasn’t for this. Not that I am complaining though, as no doubt it would of been down to me to resolve after I drove the car away 🙂

Hi and welcome.

Yes cracked 19" wheels do seem to be a common issue, especially if you stick with the OE run-flat tyres.

Don't forget to post a photo or two once you've got your car.

Do the cars run ok on regular tyres rather than the run flats? I have a f30 for my regular daily drive and that has got run flats fitted, but only on 17” alloys, so even though the ride is firm, it’s not too bad.

I was thinking about replacing the tyres on the Z4 with good year eagle f1 ays 3’s, but was just concerned about any insurance implication.

They ride a lot better on normal tyres, and the wheels should hopefully last longer as well. Most owners carry around a can of splodge or some rats tails to remedy any deflation issues
