just make sure its been looked after service wise, is clean and straight with no evidence of major damage in its lifetime.. anything can go wrong with any car at any time so buy on condition and service history and possibly evidence its been pampered with a folder full of paperwork, it drives straight and feels tight, operate the roof several times and make sure everything electrical works..you generally get a feel for an unloved car pretty quickly so go witn your gut and be prepared to walk away if it doesn't feel right to you.. good hunting

Thanks for the advice, Mr Tourette, thats sound advice, I have been bitten in the past with a Porsche Cayman, so I will walk away if its unloved, you are dead right about servicing, if its loved it will have a manual full of receipts, and documented repairs etc etc.....I am really surprised at the number of cracked alloys though...is this down to the run flat tyres side walls being stupendously hard?......and our third world country roads now?........this advice so much appreciated guys.

Good advice above.
Check the MOT history, this should highlight things such as cracked and repaired wheels and oil leaks which are difficult to spot.
Good luck with the search. Whereabouts are you?

326m wheels (19") seem to be the worst. A combination of big cast wheels, hard suspension (on Msport) and RFTs seems a bad combination.
I have 326s and so far (touch wood) mine have been OK even with the above combo.
