Afternoon gentlemen,

After months of stalking i finally gave in and got myself a 56 roadster as a 25th bday present. I'm finding it awesome after a 700ish mile trip to N.Wales a few weeks ago. Highly recommend the Groes Inn in Conwy however, their cottages have somewhat questionable parking for the car lover...

Anyway, few q's to ask. I've done the stereotypical (and easy) mods so far - stubby from Peugeot, chromed the tiddly single exhaust and added an IO Play.

I'm looking into adding the dreaded 108's. I've seen a few badly corroded sets around for 100-150 and have a quote for a £450ish refurb. In some of the more experienced members opinions, is this worth it? Would i have them refurbed and then 6months later they'd start bubbling? Or is some 'wit' going to ask me 'how long is a piece of string?' :|

I'm also looking in to getting a V1 from Bilal at Storm Motorwerks. I've had a chat with him as i wanted just the M engraved without the gear numbers but ive been told i'd need a group buy due to costs....Does anybody have a pic of the plain or engraved stainless steel V1 in a black and aluminium interior? Any opinions?

Thanks for your time guys, i've learnt a lot from lurking....now for the pics..

Best thing about a roadster....awesome storage..( as long as the passenger is under 5ft.....)

Welcome - good buy! Nice to see someone else with the good sense to buy a 2.0  I seriously love mine - think the only thing I would change it for would be a Z4M!

With regards to the wheels, I couldn't really tell you. To be truthful I think you have a pretty nice set of wheels on it at the moment (although guessing they're a pain in the arse to clean...)

Take it you've looked at the ZHP gear knob? Seems to be the preferred option all round and something I'm planning to change soon when I get some free cash!

P.S. Is this what you're looking for? http://www.bmwowner.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=73810

welcome... best looking car i've seen in a while and good to see another montego blue 2.0 owner... 8)

mine's pretty much exactly the same as yours, but 57' plate. love the wheels, probably the last thing i will change. i'm doing the exhaust mod this weekend and de-badging too. keep us infromed with the mods you do...

Thanks guys, after all that i might think about saving myself 500+ and holding on to my wheels...

Jimmypop - Ive had a look at the ZHP but still think i prefer the V1, very heavy and i just think it adds to the interior. Still trying to work out whether to have it engraved or not. I think it might look 'unfinished' without... and yes, the wheels take a good part of my sunday afternoons. :headbang:

Mikee - Stop trying to one-up me!
Are you adding the chrome tip to your exhaust or something different? i got mine from Sytner for 29ish. Totally worth it.

I kind of want to add a cold air intake but i'm thinking that if i'm not careful i could end up being that boy racer who's car you'd like to torch...

Also its all about the blue. I've always wanted a black car for some reason but Montego really stood out next to the other darker roadsters in the showroom and i couldn't resist.

hello and welcome, some good shots

excellent looking car and excellent looking passsenger too :)

Welcome! As Jimmy says always nice to see another 4 pot owner!

I'd keep the wheels, but they are difficult to clean!

Enjoy!

Welcome. :)

The 108 wheels can be refurbed with a painted outer rim and therefore you'll never have to worry about the corrosion ever again. I know the polished rim looks nice and blingy but a set of 108's newly refurbed will look fantastic whatever finish. And if you split them yourself im sure it will be a lot cheaer then 450.

Your missus cant be 5 ft tall, mines that tall and looks a lot smaller in the passenger seat :D

Welcome, nice zed. Gotta say though... that pic of yours reminds me of:

Thanks for that Playalistic, I tasted sick in my mouth when I saw that Pic.

Nice car and pics OP. if your looking for different wheels I have some lovely daisy's....OOps I mean 103s I would swap. :tumbleweed:

Looks like the 4 pots are massing for a rebellion :?

Playalistic - That's a wonderful, if not slightly un-nerving gun collection you have there. You weren't good pals with the late Mr. Moat were you?

Its all about the four pots...especially when you want to keep your insurance premium down, damn my youth...

I am thinking 2.5 s drive next time but then again that's a few years and quite a few promotions away...

Dreamer - Ok, you got me. She's about 5.3. She actually can't put enough downward pressure to lower the seat so its stuck at the highest level. Always funny when somebody else gets in and their head is taller than the roll bars...

yeah... adding the chrome tip. Well worth it from the pics i've seen and for the small price. I might look into at some point to see if there are any changes to the exhaust which can be made to give a bit more noise/grunt. But i'm in no hurry to change things, loving the car as it is! Plus, like you say, it can easily be that boy racer car :(

yep, all about the blue. I was looking for either black or sterling silver, but once i saw the montego that was it. Such a beautiful colour

being 27 too, i couldn't believe the insurance premiums on the 2.5 or 3.0! stupid prices! 2.0i all the way...

hi
Welcome to another four pot owner in Newport! Will look out for you on the roads, mine is a 55 plate black. I am completely unmodded I am afraid and like the car the way it is.

You knows it!
