Good to see it back in action - must be a bit strange to see it resurrected hopz121 :)

Very strange mate, I was gutted it had got written off originally :(

I was tempted to buy it back and repair it but I wasn't sure about that rear axle.

Still out of pocket for it due to insurance too so a bit annoyed that they wrote it off originally when they obviously didn't need to.

I'm confused now :? Not hard I know! But what exactly was wrong with it on the back axle when you got neemo. I though you were talking about a front steering/suspension part being replaced in your original post. Was the back axle sorted when you got it? or is that what you meant by control arm? I would of thought on the back there was potentially other suspension arms that if one bent they would get damaged as well. Then theres the diff/prop/driveshaft etc.

Cant see an insurance company fixing the back axle and nothing else just to sell it on as a cat d etc.

I got it delivered to a local body shop repairer
They checked the alignment of the car
The camber was out 10mil on the rear drivers wheel
No issues with the prop shafts etc
They stripped the rear end
Changed the drivers side hub
And rebuilt it
One of the rear arms was twisted
It drives really well and holds the road
No issues with the propshaft
No vibrations. Drifting or clunk's
I have to say I'm pretty chuffed with the car.
That's a testament to Hopz121

Which insurance auction site did you use neemo? Might have a nosey what else they have for sale!

I think you've done well here, no doubt the car was sold to you a bargain price and the hopz121 just confirmed they spent a fortune on it.
If you used second hand bits, you probably had the car done and dusted for a £1,000 or so. Does just show you what a mockery the Cat A, B, C & D insurance write off system can be. In the grand scheme of things this car had relatively little damage, yet will forever have that Cat D stigma.

Contrast this with friend of mine who runs a garage and sells a few cars from there as a side line. He took in a BMW 330d M Sport Tourer. Nice car on an 07 plate around the 100K mark, HPI clear no issues all fine. We found in the glove box a repair receipt from a BMW Approve Bodyshop for nearly £9,200!
When the car was 18 months old and had done about 10K it was involved in an accident that resulted in a new front wing, bonnet, front bumper, some suspension bits and a wheel at the front AND new tailgate, rear wing, rear bumper, another wheel, some suspension, some lights, a bit of jigging and alignment. To say we were astonished is a bit of an understatement and at first we couldn't understand why it had not been written off. Then we realised this car would have been worth well north of £20,000 when it was damaged. So just about avoided been written off if the normal 50% rule with insurers is applied.

Although my friends car was fine to drive etc I have to admit I would have been put off buying it myself even though its not Cat D and would much rather have a car like neemo's, where its had far less damage and you know what was wrong with it as you bought it and fixed it yourself despite being Cat D etc
