I was never much of a car person until I fell hard for the Volvo C30, last car before that was a stock Holden Astra 1.8 that was three years old when I bought it.

I finally got to pick one up after many whats, ifs and buts, detailed here:

All fun and games:

Just 18 months later I had to sell it due to a move from Australia to Sweden:

I got less than half of what I had originally paid for it. :(

I had found myself looking at least twice at every Z4 that drove past for quite some time, and I have always wanted a convertible. I know that once an idea has stuck, I might as well act on it or I will be wasting time on research and debate, so I started scouring the forums and online ads.

Luckily used cars are cheaper in Sweden and the exchange rate was at an all-time high, so the spare change was just enough to pick up a silver 2003 Z4 3.0 with 70k on the clock.

I thought spring had finally arrived, but a few days ago I woke up to this.

Anyhow, I've been lurking here for a while, seems like a great forum!

hello and welcome

bet you wish you was still in Australia, could enjoy the convertible more

Thanks!

Yes, I have found myself wishing I was "home" quite often lately. I'm sure things will improve soon though.

I'm also really missing the Volvo's xenons, wheels, seats and Dynaudio sound system, but I'll get there! Wheels are next on the list, but I keep getting distracted by bits falling off, the left door sill, the glove compartment latch and the rear brake light lens have needed replacement so far.

You'll have them all fixed by summer, then the roof'll come down and you'll never look back.

Welcome to the forum! :)

I'm going to like it here!

I have already tried the top down for a good hour at up to 150km/h in -5°C. I think the smile was frozen on my face for days. It can only get better.

The snow happened during a visit to the east coast. Luckily Gothenburg has been free of snow for a while, and the gravel/sand has already been cleared away in many suburbs.

I didn't leave the Prancing Moose magnets on all the time, but I always got smiles out of them when I had them on.

Haven't looked at those photos for a while, they still make me a bit sad. I love the wheels, but the Z4 bolt pattern is 5x120, yes? I wonder if I can have copies made with the correct bolt pattern for a reasonable price. If cost wasn't prohibitive I'd have my Z4 sprayed Cosmic White and Shadow Blue as well. :)
