Hi Folks,

I'm about to join the Z4 club as I've just purchased a demonstrator 28i sDrive M Sport in Alpine white with Coral red leather and pick it up next week.

It has the 19 inch double spoke 326 wheels and I wondered if anybody could tell me if they are diamond laser cut finished, or split rims (whatever that means) or just standard alloys.

I've found a policy to insure the wheels against kerb damage etc. but it specifically excludes diamond cut and split rim wheels.

Thanks in advance.

They aren't laser cut or split rims, just standard alloys (but they look the dogs bollocks!!)

Enjoy, i know you will.

Thank you for the very prompt answer lux.

I'm so looking forward to collecting it next week and top-down motoring after 17 years of company vehicles.

Still wading through all of the posts on the Forum to pick up as much information about the car as possible. Currently trying to decide whether to take GAP insurance as I'd never heard of it until yesterday at the dealership.

I have a least picked up that the 'stubby' is a recommended change to make!

This is a 326m

Thanks Taz  Thanks for the pic lux........I can see that it might be a tad difficult keeping the small gap between the spokes clean! :x

Lovely car matey, enjoy. Mind those rims ;)

Iv had split rims before and used a detailing brush to get in the gaps, works very well.

Have a look on http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk may find some on there. Excelent site for all your car cleaning goodies.

Thanks Peter

Aiming to pick it up next Weds/Thurs. Interestingly the dealership reckon the 326 rims are diamond cut but from the photograph attached by Lux they look pretty much a standard alloy finish to me.

they are not diamond cut  cheapest tyres for the rears are £239 one of my lads is in the tyre trade so go easy on the right foot LOL :driving:

Thanks for the confirmation Short fuse  I can now go with the insurance policy on them.

I was also tempted by an auto as well but decided on manual as my company car is an auto. Just hope I can remember how to drive a manual

Which tyres are the £239 versions? Are there any recommended tyres and any to be avoided? The car will only be used when the sun is out at weekends and evenings and not at all in winter so I'm hoping not to have to buy any tyres for a bit. :D

Thanks for the welcome buzyg

Well I've had my Z4 for two weeks now and I'm loving it! :D

Unfortunately I let my sister have a drive over the weekend and she managed to kerb an alloy :( Sadly I hadn't taken out the alloy wheel insurance so will have to pay to get it fixed. Looking to buy a stubby now and possibly change the halo bulbs at the front to get a brighter finish than the standard off white/yellow.

I've also spotted a few marks/swirls on the paintwork in bright sunlight which I didn't see when viewing the car and also spotted some rust on a couple of the wheel hubs. With all of this in mind I've booked it in for an enhancement detail with Scott at Beautechnique on Sept 14th. He will also paint the hubs and calipers at the same time and has arranged for the alloy to be repaired. http://www.beautechnique.co.uk/ehancement-detail.html

I'm hoping that he will take before and after photographs so I can post them here.

As I'm not planning on using the car in winter can anybody recommend a good cover. I've been looking at the BMW one bit it isn't cheap. Also, how often will I need to give it a run each month over winter to prevent the battery going flat etc. Other tips re storage when not using the car in winter will be gratefully accepted.

A question for the experts out there.....

I sat down last night and read through the owners handbook for the first time. I came across various pages that said I could adjust certain settings (door locking, indicator flashes) and access when the car was due for a service etc by briefly pressing the indicator stalk up or down until I came to a check screen with a key on (page 24 of handbook) then adjust the settings accordingly.

I tried this earlier this evening and the only things I appear to be able to adjust are the date and time. When I select the 'check' item it just displays 'Check OK'.

Am I doing something wrong or do you have to have fitted options that I don't have (comfort access etc.) in order to be able to select and set these items. As I don't have anything but the comfort pack and the 326 wheels on mine, can they be set via some sort of coding at the dealership?

Thanks in advance.
