Hi, thanks for letting me join your group.

I am now able to treat myself to a sports car and, as a BMW fan, I looked at a Z3 and found it a bit ‘tight’ and as I can’t afford a Z8 (!) I am now looking at a Z4. Hope to view some locally and looking to buy before summer!

Best wishes to all

Paul

Hi welcome to the forum and good luck with your search.

To assist any potential sellers I am quite relaxed on choice of Z4.
Only stipulations are :
Ideally with two hours of Worcester
not white
not black
not really old
not really high miles
good history

Looking forward to the search!

Best wishes

Paul

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll have seen the cars for sale pages and there's lots of contributors comments on the merits of different engines, specs and options.

Are you looking for an everyday car or a Weekender and what's your idea of old and high miles?

Hi, sorry for the tardy response, not used to this forum lark! Thanks for the interest.

I am after a second car, so not just for weekend only use. It will Iive on the drive, under a cover in winter.
Cost wise I can go to £12k, miles wise I had 100k in my head, but would go higher if there had been a goodly upkeep detailed in the history. These cars do seem well finished and the paint seems to last well in UK. As they get older it’s usual that suspension components and sensors will need changing, so history/documentation will be key.

Hope that helps

Best wishes

Hi Paul, welcome

There are a couple of iterations of the Z4 & there are differences

The main consideration for you is do you want a soft top or retractable hard top?

I have the e89 hard top version as it was a necessity for me & then I compiled a lot of needs & wants …

Specific Colours, engine size, heated seats & manual were my must haves & that helped me narrow down quite a bit

Good luck with your search

Hello and welcome Paul

Your budget is right in that area that covers two models, right at the top of a low mileage well loaded E85 3.0 Si or a slightly higher mileage (but not too high) E89 hard top.

Size wise I can vouch there’s more room in the E89, but as said above, you’d be better identifying absolute necessities, which for me would be heated seats and various other things, right down to stuff you can easily cope without, but may still be nice to have. Cruise for example is an easy retrofit so wouldn’t be a deal breaker.

Good luck with your search
