Recently purchased a Dec 2006 build 3.0si coupe with the six M/T. Colour midnight blue, with the full Msport suspension and seats etc. Registered 2007.
Came into NZ from the UK Aug 2012 with 50000 miles up,- someone may remember the chassis number LF68788, we have the NZ service history but nothing from the time spent in the UK.
Its now travelled nearly 120000 miles and has held up very well. The drivers seat has suffered a little, especially on the side bolster, and it has a few squeaks and rattles but almost everything is relatively easy and low cost to sort.(He says confidently)
Going thru the last seven years of history from the previous owner, it has always received BMW main dealer servicing, and there are one or two issues that have come to light.
1) No record of any form of wheel alignment taking place (despite being fitted with two sets of tyres in a seven year ownership)
2) Would appear to still be on the original suspension including shocks and springs.
Other than being vague and twitchy at high speed, we think that a good going over of the front control arm bushings and a good check / replacement or the rear bushings where necessary plus a proper 4 corner wheel alignment will sort out the handling and steering vagueness.
Plan to put a set of Apex Arc 8 or BBS CH rims and Conti/Michelin ps4 tyres on, a rear spoiler and front flippers and may carbon fibre the brushed alloy bits in the cockpit. Any recommendations?
We have a few M cars and the performance from this N52 engine more than raised my eyebrows. The body fit is exceptionally good especially when compared to our S54 M coupe with a quarter of the mileage up.
Have a couple of sets of wheels in a corner and have been thinking of fitting them, but they are from an earlier time and don't quite suit.
See the pix and let me have your opinions and thanks for reading
