Well my heart ruled my head and instead of getting the Audi A4 S line Quattro 3L I ended up test driving a Z4 and here I am. The kids are going top have to learn about public transport lol

FSH , Folder of Invoices , full ticket, all the tyres match, the number plates match no MIL's :D :D :D

So if you were in my situation what are the first couple of improvements/bits to tackle with a budget of £1000

Welcome to Z ownership and the forum. Sensible choice getting a car with character over the practical and efficient but boring Audi.
If it has run flat tyres - ditch them
If manual - do the clutch valve delete thingy
If a roadster has the hood motor been moved to the boot?
Attend to any outstanding service items.
We need photo’s of your fine new purchase.

I will simply welcome you to the forum. The Z4 is a reliable fun car. Spend the £1000 on petrol and enjoy driving it. :driving: :thumbsup:
 
As Haggisman stated. get your roof motor serviced and relocated to the boot.
Ditch the run flats if it has them.
Make sure your Vanos has been serviced and Disa valve replaced.
Electric water pump is in good order (not that you'd know unless it's already been replaced)
Back box delete if it's your thing.
Clutch valve delete.
You could get your key fob programmed to open the roof. (Gap Tec or others)
Oh and POST SOME PICTURES UP !!! :telloff:

Hi all - apologies been busy

Back Box delete is a def mod along with slightly larger wheels. The Rubber on them at the moment is budget has anyone got any recommendations for tyres. Opinion seems split. If it helps the main use for the car is weekends and fun.

You might want to try to hear a back-box delete before you go for it - I've heard a 3 litre facelift with that mod and I'd get tired of it pretty quickly!

But as yours is a pre-facelift you don't need to worry about the electric water pump as it won't have one.

As far as wheels go I think "daisies" like you have are 17s. BMW did fit a few staggered 18" alternatives to Z4s like MV2s, 107s and 108s but there are other alternatives. Sorry I can't help with tyre advice as my 3 litres both had the Bridgestone run-flats - my only advice would be to avoid those. :lol:

I wasn't aware that the pre facelift Zed didn't have the electric water pump. :o If this is the case I can stop worrying. :thumbsup:
Oh and My 3.0L has the back box delete and It sounds awesome and no drone. It's obviously a matter of taste and you're right the OP should have a listen to one before he goes for it. I can't get enough of mine though. :driving:
 
Right the back box is decided its a yes but might have to wait.

Something I missed to point out is I need a second key. A local car security specialist has quoted £220 for a replacement so I guess those and a full service would be the sensible things to do. Next will be some decent tyres. Michelin Pilot sports I think and finally around April the back box delete will happen.

So this weekend its a bit of fettling, interior leather conditioning a wash.t-cut and a full wax and finally if it stays dry a clean and waterproof of the soft top.

The aim is to get it ready for the back end of the summer for a European road trip if things pan out although if anyone has any suggestion for their favourite bit of twisty road let me know.

There are more than one Michelin Pilot Sport tyre. My current one came fitted with MPSS tyres and they really don't like cold, damp roads. I've read that MPS4 seem better for all year use, but there is also an MPS4S that I know nothing about!

Hopefully the weather won't interrupt your fettling. :thumbsup:
