Welcome to the forum Steve.

I used to spend many an evening in the Ship Inn, Variety and Adelphi.

Good times

Had a few corrados myself, and I will be switching to the MC later in the year how does the z4 feel compared?

Being low slung coupes they both feel special to drive, but the MC is more of an event. As you'd expect it's a lot faster, grippier and has much, much better brakes as standard. Which is good but also a bit of a drawback, on a spirited drive you could use pretty much 100% of the Corrados abilities but you can't really do that in the MC, it's simply too fast for most roads. (Well it is for average drivers like me anyway)

The handling is excellent but takes a bit of getting used to, prior to the rado I had a Merc 190 2.5 16v (also black) so was used to fairly powerful RWD cars but this is something else, with the DSC off it's like a wild animal!

Visibility is much worse, it takes a while to judge the length of the bonnet and the rearward visibility is really poor making any sort of maneuvering in reverse hard work. The ride's pretty bad as well, at speed it's fine but on crap roads around town it's uncomfortable, my Corrado had coilovers so am used to it but others might have an issue.

The interior is a big step up, the quality and finish of the materials is excellent, although the seats aren't as good as they look and I'd prefer a slimmer steering wheel.

Overall I'd say go for it, don't get me wrong I love Corrados and would still have one if I had space for two cars but they're getting on now and dynamically are a long way behind more modern machinery.

My dream car has always been a TVR Cerbera but they're not suitable daily drivers so the Z4MC was the sensible alternative, it's not disappointed! 8)

Oh yeah, this is my third black car so you'd think I'd have learned by now, but oh no  I do love them though 8)

I live in Preston too - Winckley Square. Mine's a Mineral White e89 28i though.

I'll keep my eyes peeled!

I've seen a white e89 driving down Fishergate Hill a few times, not sure if it was yours but it looked really nice!
