Hi all,
Finally sold the MX5 which has been great fun over it's four years ownership, 07 plate has cost me 1600 quid in depreciation. That's the cheapest motoring I've ever done.

So for a bit more refinement, and power, and a return to a gorgeous straight 6 like I had in my old E30 (ahem, 30 years ago) ive bought a E89 2009 2.5, decent spec.

Surprised it's got no cruise, and will be looking at that conversion video and all the Aircon vents are broke for some reason, so I need to fix those. I also need a spare key too, so will be seeking a thread on that.

First questions...how much difference does the wind protector make, as driving the car in sunlight I've found I can't see through it, so might ditch it.
And any recommended independents in the NW area?

Thanks for reading, forum is great and looks like the place to be to keep the cars tip top.

Well you certainly bought the right color combo :) and a pic on your first post, you'll be popular around here :D

Location will help with indi recommendations.. big area the Nw

True but also worth travelling to the right place so not too fussed. I used to run an S-Type and there is an indy in Macclesfield that is incredible, wouldn't go anywhere else with a Jag. Im in Manchester, as per the title

:D Teach me not to read the title properly, im sure there will be a recommendation in your area, if you dont mind travelling Chester way I would recommend RSV Autos in Deeside

You’ll find probably if you rinse the wind deflector in soapy water that a pile of dust etc will come out of it..that will improve it..

The wind deflector makes quite a difference if you regularly cruise top down..

Hi and welcome to the forum.

That's a lovely colour combination too.

Welcome to the forum. :) Great looking Zed. I do enjoy Mx5's. the Z4 is a quite different car. :driving:

Thanks for the welcome guys. Took the deflector out and youre right theres a vortex in the cabin on the motorway!. Will try cleaning as you advised, cheers.

I use BNDynamix in Wigan. Really know their stuff.

Darren Wood in Stockport I think is meant to be the best but very busy and very expensive.

Hi, Warrington area.
This site is a great resource for finding out about the Z4.
It's helped me out no end.
Battery, salmon relays and lately the steering rack motor.
I too am looking for an indy to service and mot my car, might try the Wigan one.

I graduated (if that's the right word) from an MX5 to a Zed as well.
No regrets, and the J2 Ltd is still stowed away, for what purpose I don't know.
But I couldn't send it to the scrap yard that's for sure.

So quick update, 6 weeks in.
Love it, was a bit scared of buying one of these as they can be a money pit and reading about the roof almost scared me off it. Of course, no one posts who never has an issue do they. Anyway so far
New battery
Carly
SmartTop
Salmon relays done
Spare key sorted, another story another time
Fresh wipers
Booked in with Dave for Cruise Control
Tunai Firefly - bit of a bad rep on here but been faultless for me and does the job

Had a nice hike in the Peaks last Saturday, rotten weather though, took these on the way home.

Issues?
I have a strong smell of petrol on startup, soon goes but is this normal? 2.5litre.
On one of the SatNav views, part of the view doesnt look right, blue bit at the top. Screen faultless in other modes. Anyone have the same?

Enjoying the forum, friendly and helpful.

strong smell of petrol isnt common on start up as far as I know but i have seen it mentioned on the forum before, cant rightly remember what the diagnosis was but may come up on a search

I don’t the Lambda sensors work when cold so a strong Petrol smell a start up shouldn’t be a problem
