Meh think he's being a bit wet, bet its an epic car to drive. Very excited to have a go and see one been going up to my local garage incessantly to try and get a sneak peak!!

Don't see how it will be too different from the 1M as its the same platform and everyone loved it...
 
I love them, and after seeing the 4 on the road more and more i cant help but think i prefer the 3.

I want to like them, I really do.. And I do think the 4 looks pretty sexual (I don't like 4 doors).. but something just doesn't do it for me. and the engine sound doesn't help.. sure aftermarket boxes will help

A car journalist always has to have something to moan about otherwise he thinks he won't be taken seriously because he thinks he's not critical enough.

The only thing it may lack is proper (loud) engine sound, but that is always a thing when turbocharging.

When the 1:1 track lap comparisons with the old m3 come I'm sure this car will be a lot faster, because it mainly is lighter. And thats a good thing :wink:
 
To be honest Steve Sutcliffe thought the car was brilliant just lamented the fact that turbos sound s**t. The 911 turbo sounds s**t too. What can BMW do really?
 
I think its a fair comment, whilst turbo's can provide all manner of exotic noises and chirps from under the bonnet they do scupper the exhaust note substantially. Do they use the synthesized engine sound on this model?

I have no idea what he means by that. Is that a sound thing?

If you turbocharge an inline six you loose that characteristic 'metallic' sound all inline sixes have in essence.
A turbo muffles the high notes of any exhaust sound.
