New "M" Wheels and tyres today

Hi,
Just fitted a set of M series wheels, with new Falcon 452s to the Z. As the rear wheels a 255s that align with the rear wheelarch. As such I have checked this with an MOT station, no problems.

My first impressions are that the ride is smoother and there is less tyre noise. Not sure about the tramlining yet, I have not driven that far yet. I'll attach some pictures once I find out how.

Slightly biased, but nice

I found that the wider offset weighted up the steering a little, always a bonus. Drop would look nice, but careful with the M wheels, the offset means that if you went with something like Eibachs (-30mm) you'd get rubbing on the wheel arches. If you can find anything that drops around 15mm, let me know

First things first though, with new tyre and a wider offset find a local Hunter centre and get a proper alignment done.

Costs a few pounds, but well worth it.

Looks great!
I would like to hear about the tramlining as that's the only thing that i don't like with my zed on the original runflats.

Looks very nice!

Same here

Hi, I have only completed a short motorway journey and it that time did not experience any tramlining. However, I have noticed that with the 18" wheels (rather than 16") you do tend to notice more bumps but with the non runflats the bumps are not as harsh. I have had the tracking checked (normal) and all was OK. Ill check later on the "super tracking"

What I DID notice and just in time, was that I had the new wheels on the wrong side of the car!! I did not notice the Falcons were directional!!

Look really good  The 'M' wheels suit the roadster very well. Not so keen on the coupe which looks better with MVs or CSLs.

Looks great. I am also looking to put the same wheels on my newly purchased Z. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get them from?? I hope it is OK to ask. I'm new to the forum.

Thanks

Hi, I bought the wheels from the for sale section in the forum, the wheels were from a coupe and were "worn & appeared to be unusually worn - appeared to have suffered from heat" I did not want to take a chance so after discussing with BMW, they quoted that as long as the tyres are as per the sticky label on the door pillar all should be OK, they would not say yes or no with respect to run / non run flats.

The forum tends to sway for non run flats and in particular Falcon 452’s. So a quick search and e-tyres had the fronts on offer. Still an expensive exercise.

Wheels - £350
Tyres - £420
Centre caps- £35 from BMW. I did buy some caps from eBay. But a waste of money, as they kept springing out.
