Had my //M for for just another a week now and still can't stop smiling, totally different animal to my 3.0. Anyway i was wondering if you kind people would be able to help as there are a few things i want to sort out which would make the car my perfect //M :D

1. Not sure if it can be done but my 3.0 had an auto locking thing when you drove off the doors locked itself, my //M doesn't have it this, is this something you can program or is that an optional extra?

2. I fitted a gaptech in my 3.0, will it work in my //M? As in same wiring etc, i know i can lower the roof at the moment with key by holdling onto the unlock button but i miss my gaptech so thinking about having one installed. Plus it drives the ladies wild

3. Where can i get my hands on the most up to date sat nav dvd? Not sure which version i have.

4. Annoyingly the car doesn't have bluetooth or the phone prep. Can anyone recommend a good third party device i can install which will enable me to use my phone (iphone 5) and also play all my music off my iphone. I'm not a fan of cd's even though i have a 6 cd changer.
I'm currently considering these two devices:- Dension Gateway Pro BT & Dension Gateway Lite BT - GBL3xxx, if anyone has any experience with these or can recommend an alternative that would be awesome.

5. Lastly the car had a new set of rear tyres fitted november last year, they are Dunlop Sport Maxx RT - 255/35Z R18 (94Y). I had a look at the official tyre size for the //M and they are 255/40 R18. Are these dunlops ok? Anyone had them on their //M?

Finally a little picture of my //M, apologies not the best picture as i'm at work and took the picture on the second floor :D

Congrats on the new ride. I still love mine after owning it for more than 4 years now.
1. Yes, the auto-lock can be programmed.
2. Don’t know…I have a coupe.
3. Dealers are your best bet. I’ve tried those “copied” version, which causes the dvd player to “hunt” more. Didn’t want my dvd player to immaturely wear out, I went and bought an OE version from an on-line BMW dealer.
4. Don’t know…I have the OE Bluetooth, which cannot stream music :x
5. The /35 size should be OK if you’re not getting any DSC/DTC/ABS error. You’ll “feel” faster as it’s equivalent to changing your final drive ratio. Only downsides are your speedometer will be off slightly (which would increment your odometer slightly faster) and use more fuel.

Thanks for your help XMetal, my front tyres need changing think i should probably change all 4 to be on the safe side.

Any ideas where i can get the auto-lock programmed?

Your BMW dealers or any independent places that service BMWs can help you with any programming. Or alternatively, you can buy an OBD2 scanner to do it yourself for less than most mechanics will charge for a single programming. This is similar to what I have => http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Scanner-1-4-0-/321457983422?hash=item4ad8638fbe&item=321457983422&pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr

There are a lot of other things that you can program/customize if you get/have the right software with the OBD2 scanner.

that looks like a lovely car Minihen, like that colour a lot.
XMetal has got you on the right track with his/her answers.
As far as the sat nav DVD goes, there's a scottish chap who, ahem, knocks 'em out for £25 inclusive of delivery. I was sceptical at first but can now vouch for his service - I have the 2014 version, it is perfect and I have never had a problem. A dealer will charge you well over £100 - not that I've even asked the official price - but I have read the threads. Lemme know if you can't find him - I will have an email exchange saved in hotmail if you're struggling.
You'll do yourself no harm with new tyres all round and you might be able to sell you old ones if the tread is still good to slightly offset the cost. If you do have new tyres fitted, you'll be looking at minimum £550 and if you're going to spend that much, I'd definitely consider having a 4-wheel alignment done with a Hunter machine at your local specialist tyre centre. I put new tyres on on Monday just gone (Goodyear Egle F1 Asym 2s) and the fitting, balancing, alignment, including adjusting the alignment (toe settings, camber etc) cost me £75 all in. I went with standard profile - 40 rear, 45 front so can't comment on 35 profile tyres.
You'll see I have a Coupe so can't help with the gaptech and mine already has the bluetooth and ipod cable.

Thanks XMetal will find a specialist who can reprogramme it for me. Not sure i would know what to do if i bought the kit myself.

Stevo, thanks for all the info. I would be very grateful if you could fish out the email address for the sat nav guy, can't go wrong for £25 :D
