New Leather Retrim for Silver Grey E86

That combo does work well-actually as I was typing my reply I was holding up various wooden spoons against any aluminium and grey objects in our kitchen

I've thought of doing the same to my silver grey coupe - tan would be my choice. I think I've seen a silver grey M coupe on here with tan/caramel leather and it looked incredible... to my eyes, at least!
Don't suppose you know who that was?

Took me a while to find the post but here it is. Only one photo of the interior unfortunately. And i think it's the only coupe with that colour combo in the UK. The owner is still [ref]Neilson[/ref], i believe. Hope he doesn't mind the attention! :P

Thanks! I'll reach out him to see if he has any more pics, didn't know caramel was an option from factory.

I would go for something that wasn't BMW specific - if you're going to all that expense, have something unique

Exactly, as much am I'm all on the Amarone hype. This is an opportunity to try something different but still look OEM. Maybe even set a new trend

Also whats everyone's thoughts on Nappa Vs Standard grained leather that you get from factory.

Sometimes Nappa can look too smooth and a bit vinyl like. A part of me prefers the leather with all its markings.

Now that I've had both I definitely prefer the Nappa finish, it feels so much more supple than the standard Oregon leather which to me feels a bit vinyl-like!

Starting from a blank canvas I'd do something different to anything BMW offered - maybe red/amarone bolsters and dark grey centres, or the other way around.

But obviously it needs to be to your taste, but I definitely agree something not offered by BMW is the way to go.

I'm just looking forward to seeing the result.

Have you considered getting your seats and door cards refinished?

They will be as good as new and cost is around £100 if you do it yourself or about £500 for someone to come and do them.

I like the Montana Tanin Red with silver grey.

Definitely Nappa

Mine was done in "Bentley Grade" Nappa (whatever that means). Its lovely stuff and feels far more luxurious than the standard grained leather.

@Beanie, I got the idea from the pull rack at the gym, as thought those two colours complemented each other well.

It's a classic 'leather against metal' colour combo that's always looked great. I've got 2 of these chairs - you could go down the 'destroyed' leather route?

Same. The quality is much nicer and luxurious.

For those interested, here's my Silver Grey/Caramel combo...

In my humble opinion, it's the perfect blend of colours. The tan leather is a really nice matt finish, which gives it a really nice luxury feel against the silver grey!

Now they do look good, also look to be in great condition.
Thanks, they really suit the Silver Grey, and luckily they're in excellent condition!
To me it really gives the car a classic retro feel.

Hey Folks,

Have decided to the get my tired OE Ivory White Sport seats and door cards retrimmed on my Silver Grey E86.

Went to see EDGE Automotive in Rugby today but made the mistake of looking at many colour samples.

I like the tan's and caramel shades but keen to get ideas off others, something within this colour range and that goes well with Silver Grey and my brushed silver interior trim.

Any pics of would be very helpful.

Oh and cost wise I'm looking at £1450, I know, big investment on a car of this age, but its gonna be a keeper and got a buyer lined up for my Corrado Vr6.

Interested in how you get on. I’ve got the New England leather option (so better leather, full door cards and sun visors!) but looking at retrimming dash, gear gator, steering wheel etc. Rugby would be near me.

I’d vote for a tan leather for your car. Think it would look great.
