New Key ..not as expensive as you think!!

Having had the car for nearly a year I thought it time to do the right thing and actually order that second key :o
My initial thoughts were OMG not the stealers and on ringing around to local auto locksmiths here in Milton Keynes I could pick up a non central locking one for just under £60 transponder coded, but the shock came when I asked for the 'all singing all dancing' central locking controlled key..£150 ..and that wasn't from the stealers!!

I was just about to bite the bullet when I thought I would do the right thing and give BMW Stealers in MK a call...guess what??. Just under £147 and you get 10% off as well if your car is over 4 years old..making it just around the £132 mark

I know you'll say that it is still extortionate, and you are right it is, but for peace of mind and including a guy that came out to programme the two keys I now have two keys that work properly..Well done BMW MK for once you are cheaper..

Now you are all going to upset me and tell me that someone could do it much cheaper aren't you!! :headbang:

The guys seems to get a lot praise on this forum and does fully functional and programmed keys for £70 and you get a service key for like 10 pounds extra.

Yep, I had a flip key and service key done by bmkeys on Saturday, as did my friend. Took minutes to do.

When i got my zed there was only 1 key, this was around a year ago. So about 2 month ago decided to give the interior a good going over

Cleaning behind the seats, under them and such, i pulled the passenger seat away from the middle console as to stick the hoover down and there wedged right down was the other 2 keys on a keyring.

I was gonna get a spare from sytner! So glad i didn't. :)

Just wondering bm, do you do the bentley version via post at all?

Yes, but it would involve either sending your ews module to me, or a plastic wallet key or service key that I can take the transponder from. Remote key transponders are not compatible.

i dont understand what an ews is, but i could send you one of my main keys and a cheque, ater the cheque is cleared you could send them back to me and of course i will pay for return postage. Could we do it like that?

The EWS is your immobiliser module.

A new key cannot be made or duplicated from an existing remote key.

I've just bought a 2004 Z4 and only got one key, could you let me know the options as far as getting a spare please

Thanks

its all here buddy

i think from memory you have to drive to him (based in East London) and he connect to your car and uses some kind of voodoo then your options are:

flip key £70
standard key £55 (Edit :fuelfire: )
service key £10

but i could be wrong so drop him an email/pm

i still want a new key for mine but more important things have got in the way like insurance/4 new tyres/ MOT next week so it keeps getting put back :headbang:
