NEW KEY HOW MUCH !!!!!!!!!

I have 3 keys, including the one that doesn't fully function, that I replaced the battery on. Would not think it would be the GM5 relay in my case. I should retest it on the issue for the one key.

High street shops usually won't touch them as the poor quality steel that ebay key blades are made from might damage their machines.

Must have got lucky, our (literally!) High Street place did me a couple some years ago. They did say they couldn't guarantee the cut but they worked a treat. I got the impression few places carried a milling copier.

I just found this on Amazon and read both good and bad reviews. On the one review it tells you how to easily change the frequency if incorrect for your vehicle. I might go by my local locksmith and see if he can cut that groove.

Complete keyfob and dirt cheap: https://a.co/d/aAT2LJH

They show a chip, but say no transponder...strange as they show the frequencies...

Local locksmith said he cannot cut the key blanks, suggested the BMW dealer... I checked my key fob with issues and it's the middle button with the BMW logo to lock the door that does not work. Unlock and hatch work fine.

I bought a bmw with only one key. I wanted a spare for that just in case moment. I remember using a sole trader in East London, the guy was faultless, I drove down to his premises, and as if by magic he'd removed glovebox and the ews. He programmed the keyfob, checking the buttons functioned, then cut the key.
He did a few other things, that I can't remember unfortunately, but also programmed the alarm so that it was audible on lock/unlock all for the princely sum of £70. The bonus, was that it only took him 20 mins from start to finish.
I'm still using the same key five years later with zero issues.

Beanie, I’m in tears… “no longer in its job description “ 🤣🤣🤣 my daughters car has pulled this exact same stunt

This thread has been a god-send. Assuming my daughter can find the detached blade 🙄 I can get the remote repaired and a new blade cut and installed for £35 plus postage from The Master Locksmith. TBH all three recommended on here were extremely competitive when considering the huge cost of these. Another small win for the Z4 Forumers :happyclap:
